According to the Night Dive devs in this thread they did have a copy of the original source.

Re: sgi crimsons. 2 of them

Would you consider parting one of them out? I've got a Crimson that needs a rear plastic panel and a power supply.

Re: SoftImage HALP!

Baby steps, haha. Looks like you're building a Cornell box? I presume you've got the Extreme version of Soft so you can get some radiosity going with Mental Ray?

Re: SoftImage HALP!

You need to choose the selection mode (object, polygon, etc) using the buttons at the bottom right of the screen - this guide should be helpful. Then you need to hold down the spacebar while you click an item to select / deselect it. This online reference manual is a good place to start - it will te...

Re: SoftImage|3d install

Jeremy Birn has a bunch of beginner Soft|3D tutorials on his web site. So does Ed Harriss. Probably a good place to start. There's also a New Riders book called "Inside Softimage|3D" that is probably the best guide aside from the original user's manuals. It goes for about $5 on eBay.

Hot Mix 16 Online

Just made the contents of Hot Mix 16 available online. This compilation dates from 1997 and includes a catalog of the major software packages available on the IRIX platform along with some screenshots and promotional videos (including the one where Steve Jobs raves about the Octane).

Enjoy!

Re: Anyone see this beaut on eBay

This makes me wonder what my Jurassic Classic is worth (or what it would be worth if I got it running)

And Necron, regardless of what you paid, congrats on picking up a rare system. Looking forward to seeing pics and specs when you get it home.

Re: Anyone see this beaut on eBay

According to the eBay listing this Crimson has been sold for the $4k asking price. Does anyone know who bought it?

Re: WTB: Sun Ultra 60

Thx Pilot, Blade 1k is a beast of a machine but I'd prefer an Ultra 60 because it's more "period correct" for LightWave. Plus I think the case design is cool. Should have picked one up five or ten years ago when they were cheap. I remember walking past a dumpster full of old Sun Ultra syst...

WTB: Sun Ultra 60

Would like a Sun Ultra system to run LightWave 3D, preferably a dual-CPU Ultra 60 with Elite3D graphics, but will consider any Ultra 60 in good condition, especially if close to NYC.

Re: Free: SGI 20" CRT Trinitron Monitor GDM-20E21 - New York

For a while CRT screens were totally worthless - couldn't give them away and even thrift stores would refuse to take them. Now it seems as though they're starting to become scarce and collectors are actually willing to pay for working ones. Probably a good idea to hold on to LCD monitors with analog...

Re: Acclaim Entertainment / Probe Software Indy w/Nichimen N-World 3.1, Soccer Mocap

There are a few left - just listed one tonight, but it has mostly Acclaim corporate e-mails and other production-related docs inside, no actual 3D software. Still trying to decide whether to keep or sell the one with a licensed copy of Alias Wavefront.

Re: Well I finally got my O2...in a million pieces

That damage is definitely the fault of whoever packed it - totally inadequate cushioning for an O2. They need at least 6" of peanuts and/or bubble wrap around all sides if they're going to survive shipping. I'd love to see somebody 3D print replacement SGI skins, but with improved designs. The ...
