Re: Please help indentify these are cover or sled

The other five are blank cover plates. They have a backside made of sheet metal to provide shielding inside the O200 case

Re: AIX and getopt_long

Next to the header files declaring getopt_long, you also need an implementation/definition of getopt_long, most commonly in a separate C-source file which you need to compile yourself (or a library with the symbol defined and implemented) So you need https://github.com/freebsd/freebsd/blob/master/li...

Re: Octane2 V8 OpenGL corruption

This looks like corrupt texture ram. Is the machine clean? Did you inspect it before turning it on? Things can get dislodged during shipping and may interfere with the electronics on the V8 (or the mainboard for that matter). Have a look and check the system. Make sure everything is positioned secur...

Re: O2 boot once then no idea why not

Maybe try to perform an IDE diagnostic from the PROM to see if everything is okay. Will take a while though

Re: O2 boot once then no idea why not

Ah i now notice you had a different error message. Sorry. I was assuming you were booting a miniroot install. Do you have a serial nullmodem cable? You should be able to enter the serial console and issue a 'setenv console g' again. Dealing with the instruction bus error, make sure that whatever you...

Re: O2 boot once then no idea why not

I've seen this on my O2 a couple of months ago. This post helped me out: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=16719244

Try

Code: Select all

setenv console d

followed by

Code: Select all

init

That should set the console correctly so that miniroot install doesn't crash.

Picture of Indy GIO Extender 030-8229-003

Because i couldn't find a decent picture of this board, i asked Xiri to be so kind to make a picture of it and share it with us: GIOExtender.jpeg This is useful for a Challenge S if you need two single width extension cards with DMA capability, like an extra SCSI option card with a 100baseT G100/G13...

Re: Indigo 4000 power on till chime and dead

You can continue troubleshooting by removing the graphic card and see if it stays powered on for a longer period. But the most likely scenario is that the power supply needs an overhaul. We just had a thread with tips on how to recap a R4000 Power Supply: http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=3...

Re: Question on Software Revision

I had to process the photo's a bit because they are quite dark. I counted 18 different CD's: 4 x 6.5.19 overlay, Base doc, Applications, 4 x Freeware february 2003, 2 x 6.5.12 Demos, 4 x Found1/2/DevFound/DevLib, SNMP access for HP-UX MIB and ONC3/NFS3. It's been added as an extra AWE revision entry.

Re: GemRB

Looking at the error messages, it appears that canvas is a NULL pointer. It could be that the SDL 1.x binding for creating a canvas goes wrong. I should have a look at SDL2 compile in IRIX, since that is what i want to use for my programs.

Re: Stripping six O200: what should i keep?

If they have the XTALK jumper that's placed there if no XTOWN board is installed this might also be useful. The XTALK jumper saves a CrayLink/GIGAchannel cable if the O200 shouldn't be used together with a GIGAchannel cabinet. Ah, this one: xtalkjumper.png There aren't any SMD components on that bo...

By all means, please do. I can put it on the Nekochan wiki to preserve this information for future repair attempts.

Re: Any chemists on board?

I think that the word chemist in this context is a bit misleading since i think the OP means creating Pharmaceutical compounds by regular chemistry master students (of which i happen to be one). Or do Americans/Brits use the word "chemist" to designate "pharmaceutist"? I never ca...
