Re: Octane 1.5 no music at startup/shutdown

This seems to be covered in viewtopic.php?t=10309
So in the prom, do

Code: Select all

setenv boottune 1
setenv volume 100

and plugging the speakers to either the Line out or Headphones jack should give something coming out of the speakers when booting.

Re: Indy or O2 for hostile-heat environment

I would agree with a R5K180MHz low spec as a reliable, yet cost- (and power-) effective IRIX/MIPS machine. I've modded both my O2's with EBM Papst and while the R12K270MHz stays are 34 degrees Celcius my R5KMHz runs happily with less that 28 degrees on the exhaust, while cutting the sound levels fro...

Re: Connecting to nekochan repository?

Intuition 7# #!/usr/bin/env perl /usr/bin/env: Event not found. That is not a command but a suggestion to check the first line of perl scripts like xvidcap or its helper scripts for hardcoded locations of the perl binary. if the first line of a perl script file reads #!/usr/bin/perl you're in troub...

Re: Illustrator for Irix

I've got an old sn writen on an old Adobe cd package... Then i assume there are instructions on the CD filesystem or accompanying booklet on how to enter the license. But if the licensing entails contacting Adobe support to create a license file online for use with your octane, then you probably ar...

Re: Illustrator for Irix

Do you have a license for Illustrator 5.5.1 (bought previously or installed on the Octane) but are you unsure how to install it, or are you asking for a license?
The latter is not permitted, as per our forum rules (in red).

Absolutely nothing. 19 hours until the cheaper Tezro ebay auction will expire. We will see what they will do. I hope they will contact me or any of us to discuss matters.

Re: Connecting to nekochan repository?

But is this properly installing the perl? Well, do you have a perl binary in /usr/nekoware/bin? If not, then the procedure you followed is probably not the correct one. Did you unpack the tarballs in a /tmp directory before you started inst? For reference, here's the procedure to install neko_perl:...

Re: SGI Power Supply Tester (and other projects)

That looks like a really compact adapter. Does it get its power from the Indigo1 connection cable or does it need a 5 volt supply?

Re: Irix 6.5.30 patches?

Keep in mind that for IRIX installation older than 6.5.20 you need to install Patch 5086 before you perform a live upgrade of the system. This patch upgrades inst/swmgr to deal with some package changes since the 6.5.20 release.

Re: Irix 6.5.30 patches?

If I have 6.5.19 CDs - what patches would I need to take it to 6.5.30? Patches mostly fix certain bugs and problems in individual subsystems, but only rarely do they upgrade subsystems. For upgrading the IRIX OS there are no patches, only overlays to a later (or earlier) version. For 6.5.30 you nee...

Re: Connecting to nekochan repository?

The nekoware repository is a collection of open source software packaged for IRIX 6.5.22m systems and up. The packages are called 'tardist's and are tarballs of files readable by the command lne tool 'inst' or the graphical tool 'swpkg'. The graphical tool is able to parse url's but i'm not sure if ...

Re: Tezro for sale in the Netherlands (Not mine)

I am tempted, but I also worry about the "untested" condition... Exactly, so i've sent them an email with request for more info. It should simply be a 5 minute effort to hook up a DVI monitor and PS/2 keyboard to go to the command prompt and photograph a 'hinv -v' which is exactly what i'...

The second one was 750 euro. It's still on their homepage listed as 750 but if you click on it the more expensive priced comes up.

Their homepage is: https://www.odnd.nl/shop/
