Can you make a post to this thread and attach the tardist? I can then move it to nekoware/beta

Re: O2 and Octane crash when network is connected

If the machines haven't run in 4 years, my first guess would be to check whether various configurations are still valid and no problems like dead batteries have popped up. Initially I thought of an invalid system id and an all zero Mac address causing network havoc, but the system id of an O2 is on ...

Re: Plasmon Rewritable Magneto-Optical Disk thingy

From the mediad man pages it looks like IRIX will support MO devices out of the box, no need to configure anything. So i dug up my Iomega MO SCSI drive (which is a Fujitsu dynaMO rebrand) and hooked it up to the O2. Like you have reported, the drive shows up in hinv as an optical device in /dev/scsi...

Re: New Octane user

Welcome to the forum.

The current forum policy does not allow public sharing of software, there are other places and fora for that. We do help out in making stuff working, and there is a bit of development in porting software to IRIX.

The OP seeks help on specific MO devices and IRIX support. I fail to see what media prices have to do with his question.

Please keep the thread on topic.

Re: Anybody got a clue with PowerSeries?

I would check the power switch on the front and try to get a same-spec replacement, that should cost you about 5 AUD. Don't try to hotwire the switch, there's a fair amount of current going through that one.

Re: Anybody got a clue with PowerSeries?

It sounds like the front panel doesn't receive any current? Any LED activity? I had a flaky power switch on my Crimson which i fixed by replacing it, it must have been corroded from all the current going through. Since you live in Australia, you have 230Volts, but with a non-US or EU plug. Any chanc...

FS: 5 Third-Party Origin 200/2000/Octane sleds

3rdpartysleds.jpg Following up on my original octane sled for-sale , i'm now offering five 3rd-party sleds for 12 euro each or 55 euro for all five. Screws all-inclusive of course. If you take all five, i'll throw in a sixth, which has less than stellar gluejob on the pull-handle, but it still work...

FS: 5 Original Origin200/2000/Octane sleds

sgisleds.jpg Pulled from an O200 system. One has some contact spring irregularities but functions okay. All handles are intact. All 5 sleds for 80 Euro, or 17.50 Euro per sled. I hope you all understand that i prefer selling all 5 in one go. Seller pays packaging and shipping. I'll wrap them up car...

Re: Yet another O2 PSU fan replacement

I put a handheld thermometer against the vents of the PSU and while the R5K never gets above 31-32 i have measured 36 degrees celsius on the R12K with my EBM Papst mod (both models have it). So that should still be the safe limit. But do post your R12K mod, i'm curious what you changed in running th...

Re: Yet another O2 PSU fan replacement

It seems that the thermal design page from rvic's post mentioning the front panel openings still rely on unfinished prototypes of the O2 cabinet. He mentions air leaking out of the mainboard towards the front. I cannot seem to find a good photo of the front of an O2 without scalp, but i'm pretty sur...

Re: Is there a way to see what the current blocksize is for a XFS filesystem?

Thanks for testing gijoe77, but yeah you're right, the scsi2sd devices do not tolerate another device on the same bus. It looks like the ability to select multiple device ID's makes them claim the entire bus. At least Indigo2's have two buses, so you can hook up the scsi2sd devices separately from o...

Re: Anyone have any idea where I could find a CD-ROM drive like this?

The 44 pin connector seems to be a mini-IDE + power connector. I'm sure this is known, but i thought i'd mention it anyway. So you could try out a generic IDE slim CDROM and find a convertor online or solder something yourself.
