Re: Created docker for running an IRIX install server on your PC/laptop

Sounds sorta similar to the Vagrant setup I came up with a couple months ago to boot SGIs... but obviously I'm using Vagrant/Virtualbox instead of Docker. This is designed to Layer2-bridge onto your network so you can use RARP to boot installers on SGIs without having to type in IP addresses. https...

Re: Sync on green question

Before going the conversion device route, try this: If you have a spare old VGA cable, you can force Sync on Green by breaking off the separate H/V sync pins 13 and 14 on one end. YMMV and no guarantees, that why i suggest doing this on an old cable. I also have a 1907FP and could not reliably eithe...

Re: FS: O2000/onyx2 wheel base

Shipping to US depends greatly on the weight: if i keep the package below 5Kilos shipment will be 34.50 Euros, otherwise it will be 58 Euros and that's too expensive IMO. I will put you as reserve and await other offers. Jan-Jaap has offered Onyx2 rack systems recently, and this wheel base might be ...

Re: How do I fix this?! >:(

This is similar to my tmux port attempts failing because irix doesn't have an utf8 locale included.

A shame really.

I can't change the OP user of that topic, but you're welcome to add a post with your additions, so the mods can integrate it in Zafunk's post.

Re: Indy badges?

The R5000 badge has a distinct curve, which in my opinion was meant to match it left of the "bug" logo. Very similar to the "Power" badge for the R8K Indigo2 paired with the elan/xz/ultra badges

Re: IRIX netinstall via DINA - getting invalid argument error.

Can you try substituting the server ip address 192.168.1.100 with it's machine name when attempting a network installation? fx only uses tftp and bootp services, but sa and miniroot have more demands, like rsh, a working ksh and a server who is identifiable by name, not by ip address, at least ...

Created docker for running an IRIX install server on your PC/laptop

Since i got tired of: a) Editing passwd files and setting kernel parameters in my current machine to get services up for remote boot and network install (and reverse the changes afterwards) b) Running a ChallengeS server with 100 mbit to act as an install server c) installing VMWare to run DINA ...i...

Re: Wanted: Octane

Ian's SGI Depot is more geared towards selling to commercial entities and thus the higher prices, because they can afford it. But he is a good person to deal with. He's from Kentucky, so shipping from Europe might be a tad expensive. But i'm sure there's an SGI enthusiast nearby who can help him out.

Re: Wanted: Octane

First of all welcome,

It would be wise to tell a bit more about yourself and where you live and what you do. Putting netBSD on an Octane would be really cool, but do you have experience in Linux/BSD Kernel workings? Or have you ran SGI systems before?

Well done necron2600.

Is the irix package built mainly for remote management of other devices over ip or can it also be used to read sensor data on SGI hardware?

Re: 030-1277-002 MXI TRAM modules on an MXE board?

Thanks for the confirmation, jeb. This means that having either a 1263 or 1277 Rev B should be sufficient for adding TRAM to an SE or SSE. 1277 Rev A confirmation is still out.
And i guess your soldering skills have improved greatly :)
