I think the Archive Python 1931 firmware is in fact the Conner CDT-8000 .... which is why I am guessing there is something fundamentally wrong in the installation.

Re: doomed - use! HTTPS Everywhere - google explained why

I run techpubs.jurassic.nl, which comes in both flavors (HTTP and HTTPS). You are in the tiniest of minorities - people who know what they are doing. The number of sites that fireflop will not access because the owner forgot to add the www prefix to his certificate is appalling. And worse than anno...

I don't have time to watch that whole talk; ... Me either, the first five minutes was enough to make me start throwing things. Another five minutes of their garbage and I'd have destroyed my monitor, keyboard and probably hanged an innocent bystander with the mouse cable. It's like watching a gathe...

Reasons got exposed in the Google I/O 2014 talk. And People have already started to use https even on their intranet ... I wish you wouldn't put this kind of thing up. I was having a perfectly enjoyable Sunday until I made the mistake of looking at this ... thing . Luckily, I wasn't there. 'Cuz if ...

Re: Dat compatibility question

Ok, I buy (and correctly installed) a Seagate CDT-8000-H-S but Irix see this tape as unknown. How I proceed? Something is wrong with your setup. That drive is recognized properly, I had one. Didn't work because the drive was junk but it was still recognized correctly. Check the id setting jumpers, ...

Re: Maintaining Hardware / fesability of keeping hardware running

Unforunately this makes reversing super difficult as the best approach now becomes "remove all the parts and hand sand the entire pcb a layer at a time". Some folks in China can do this a little more cost effectively. You get a netlist at the end, but parts are still a problem. If you hav...

Don't get so excited :( This is just back to the original neko mplayer, except that it builds out of the box now. Never did before, for me :(

But ya gotta start somewhere, right ?

Re: Battery in Octane PVO card?

one thing to look for is that these boards might not be compatible with Vpro equipped octanes - in case you have one of these. I recall I had an octane compression board that caused kernel panics in such a system and it turned out that it did not play well at all with the Vpro board. Octane compres...

Re: mplayer 1.3.0

I don't think I ever posted a patch for the "beta" Mplayer I sent up. It's newer than what's in Neko maninline but probably older than current official Mplayer. LMK if you're still interested. I have to set the Octane back up but that's not a big deal. Like alot of people life (my first k...

Hear, hear! Hear what? music? Yes, the Internet v2.0 added You-Tube. Hear, hear ! is a roar of approval from the peanut gallery :) It's what you shout as you pound your mug on the table, right before you all rush out into the street to gather the flaming torches and storm the castle .... But maybe ...

Re: Announcing The IRIX Network

Nowadays it's the Internet v2.0. Things do change. Things do change, and the condition worsened  Exactly. Which means people are even dumber to put any kind of personal information anywhere near the internet. We've had 10,000 breakins and hacks and millions of customer-data-leaks and faceblee...

Re: If there's something strange in your FW/400 ...

This doesn't look like Irix but for future searches, in Irix with firewire you must use 6.5.30 or you will have all kinds of strange behavior with disks. And I think there was stuff they never got into the overlay stream, too. Even at 6.5.30 my system would crash reliably on Sunday morning at 3:00 a...
