Free to good home - Indy and O2 Parts.

Emptied out the closet today. All this stuff is free, I would like to get it to a good home all in one shot without separating these things. I'm located in RI, US. I'll try to recap as best I can: semi-complete sgi Indy (4600/8-bit I think) skins slightly discolored but good condition. No ram. Boots...

600MHZ o2

Folks here are familiar enough, I'm sure, with the 600MHZ upgrade for the o2. I have a 600MHZ o2 / 1GB Ram / 1600 FP Adapter and a big/fast SCSI drive which I'll wipe clean. Nice skins. It has always run excellent since the upgrade. I'll consider reasonable offers. I don't really want to part with i...

Re: Recommendations for tools/settings OSX Desktop -> IRIX

Thank you for the reply. I will give screen sharing and a VNC client a shot. Video is not really one of my expectations.

Recommendations for tools/settings OSX Desktop -> IRIX

Hello, I use my o2 as something of a glorified multilink adapter for the 1600sw. I am curious for recommendations on software and optimization settings for managing a OSX desktop on the macbook pro from IRIX. For example, I currently use rdesktop to remote control a windows box with the following co...

Kensington Expert Mouse

$40 + shipping. Good deal if you need a quality mouse. I bought this to go /w my powerbook but I couldn't tell how large it is. Never used it. It is too big for travel and appears to be the type of mouse that someone who does 3d / graphic design / etc. would need. http://us.kensington.com/html/2200....

Batman would probably be using some sort of BSD-based user-friendly OS that has good support for video conferencing..

Sorry for the rant, but I've been in charge of engineering the backup systems for some important equipment. No. Thank you very much. That was a more comprehensive answer than I ever could have hoped for. Mine is an APC Back-UPS Pro 1400 and I will definately get it back up and running given how muc...

SGI O2 and UPS - necessary?

All, I have a UPS that has run out of battery life - I've been using it /w my o2 - my question is: Do I really need a UPS? What does it really protect in the o2? Does it just protect from sudden power loss / HD corruption? Or can power issues affect the main board / ram / cpu as well? Thanks.

No, linux on an o2 is not to be taken seriously... I suppose it is good only for learning about linux or learning about an o2. If you have real work you'd like to do then you shouldn't plan to do it in such an environment.
