Re: Wanted: RM9-64 Raster managers for Onyx2

Hi John, i think the market for complete pipes would be very small nowadays. As an example, i'll observe this offer for an RM11 on ebay since a while (it's not sold for months...): https://www.ebay.com/itm/SGI-RM11-Raster-Manager-for-InfiniteReality4-Graphics-w-1024MB-Texture/272615424666?ssPageName...

Re: Wanted: RM9-64 Raster managers for Onyx2

Hi Jeb,

that's exactly true, you can't mix different RM's in the same pipe, but it is possible to mix pipes with different RM's in one system.
Because i only own a deskside ONYX2 i don't have to reflect about such problems, there is only space for one pipe with max. two RM's.

Re: Wanted: RM9-64 Raster managers for Onyx2

Hi Jeb,

if mopar5150 would sell me two of his RM11's for a reasonable price (hopefully still waiting for answer... :?: ;) ) i could sell you my RM9's... :)
Otherwise there are some on ebay currently, IMO not too expensive...

Re: Dassault systems Catia V5

IRIX is out of support from Dassault at least since 2009. (My company has switched from AIX/IRIX to Windows in 2003-2005 and abandoned IRIX in 2006. At the best times at the end 90's we had ~2000 SGI-Machines here, mostly Octanes. The availability of Catia for Windows was the biggest nail in the cof...

@toxygen:
Prague would be perfect! I'm always open for a trip to this great historic city (with good and cheap beer...)! Have not been there for 2-3 years, and only ~3h by car - time to go! Would definitely take the Onyx if it would be possible!

Cheers,

Re: A sad moment but has to be done.....

Hi! @toxygen: If you or someone could organize the transport to Czech Republic i would be very interested at least in the Onyx RE2, very likely in others too! I could collect it in Czech Republic for myself, if it's not too far in the east... (I'm lurking for a deskside-Onyx1 for a long time, but tr...

Why could you not be located in germany, or at least in europe?

Re: Onyx 1 (Terminator) Rack in Poland

Very nice machine, IP25 and IR. Sadly for me i's a rack, otherwise it would have been mine! I don't have the space anymore. :(
I hope it will find a good new home!

(Still looking for a deskside "Eveready"!)

Re: New Origin 200

Nice unit! Those three sleds in the center look a little interesting - is that a newer design? No, they are just from a 3rd-party manufacturer, i have a couple of them laying around. The locking mechanism is interesting and faster to handle, especially if you have to move more drives at one time (j...

Re: My Big Fat GNU Octave question

Hi! Has anybody here already tried to compile the final Octave 3.0 ( http://www.gnu.org/software/octave/download.html ) under IRIX? I would like to play with it, but i'm not very enthused to fight against the compiler for ages... I would give it a try this evening if not somebody else has it already...

Re: Gbit network switch recommendation?...

Hi Ian, there are also the Netgear GS724T (without the "S", which means not stackable), but also with four SFP-GBIC slots. I have such one and i'm very happy with it. The only issue i had was the web interface, the first firmware versions worked only with IE, but now it works also with Fir...

Re: Peltier cooler in a 4D/35

Upon closer inspection, I believe I'm looking at a Peltier cooler.

Interesting! Could you post a photo?
I've sold my 4D/35 years ago, but AFAIR there was only a cheap small fan, like from the i486-era, on the CPU.

Re: Unknown Origin 200 CPU Module LED message

Hi! I would like to know what this blinking means. If it is serious or not. The blinking LED is on the system controller (MSC), so ask him. Put a terminal on the MSC-Port (AFAIR it is marked as "AUX") on top of the backside of an O200. In the O200 owner's manual is a description for the mo...

Hi!

Have you noticed this little comment in the readme of patch 7179 and 7181:

This patch fixes the following bugs:
[...]
964077 - 6.5.31m build failed - xfs_filestream_associate not included in SIM build

Re: SGI Octane password reset

(Why not use Origin 2x memory? Seems like it would have been more logical, but they didn't) Because the directory memory every IP27-DIMM contains (yes, also the standard DIMMs contain some directory memory, enough to drive up to 16 nodeboards.) is not needed on octane. The sort of DRAM on the modul...
