O2 parts Sydney Australia

Hi Guys, I've basically got 4 complete O2's 300Mhz RM5200's that have been in storage that I'm going to part out as sending complete machines is too expensive to anywhere but Australia. I was keeping them hoping an RM7900 @ 900Mhz upgrade would one day materialise... I'm in Sydney Australia. Several...

Re: Did I just break my hot SGI 320?

They can be notoriously fickle when they decide to have a bad mood - then they can also be rock solid stable to years when feeling good. The number of blinks at is the memory chip throwing errors at startup/POST. So 2 blinks = chip #2 I forget the numbering system nowadays, but it can take some swap...

Re: Octane playing up

I had an old R10K 195 that did that, though got worse till it wouldn't boot. Removing and re-inserting the Mobo will work for a while. The actual fix is the hook components of the compression connector which will be partially bent out of shape giving you less than perfect contact. Thus your intermit...

Re: VW320 Won't Post

If you possibly suspect bad caps - I replaced some on a Mobo that is still running -look for shrinkage of the plastic at the top (they look like girls wearing 'too tight" tops compared to the good ones If it's running single you also need a CPU terminator card in the second slot and the jumpers...

Re: YAAY I'm a total Noob again

For a decade old machine it's surprisingly zippy, takes a while to boot, but I put that down to the drive and scsi speed, but more so the drive. The OS only uses 22MBand as I said it only runs the drum scanner so that's enough. Nope I don't have an OSX box, I've got a mate with the latest greatest q...

Re: YAAY I'm a total Noob again

OK so Ubuntu is out, are there any distros at all that I can use to duplicate the drive. Is it possible from with Mac OS 9 itself? Remember I'm a total noob at anything prior to OSX, and not at all good with this type of stuff with OSX even. It's only got 216MB ram, which aint great, but it only has...

YAAY I'm a total Noob again

OK So I just got a Powermac 9600/300 which is dedicated to a drum scanner that it came with. Couple of questions to start then I'm sure more to follow. I want to duplicate the current install/system drive partition which is OS 9.1 (I don't have any install media) which is only 4.5GB onto an 18GB dri...

Presenter 1280 Octane strangeness

Just hook up the presenter 1280 to my Octane, which was previously on another Octane (now deceased). Anyway it used to display the PROM on boot, iirc, but not doesn't display anything until Irix is booting on the newer Octane I've tried using the resetenv via the serial console, no change and I have...

Re: Problem with O2 and 1600SW

Thanks for the link. The manual came with the adapter card, but the troubleshooting tips did not help. I was able to confirm with a second 1600SW, that unfortunately the first 1600SW does not work. I could track down the problem by disassembling both displays and swapping parts, but I don't want to...

Re: Octane won't boot most of the time

Welp, gave it a good cleaning, really the only thing that was terribly dirty was the SCSI backplane, brushed that all off. No good. Maybe I need to release the frontplane pcb from its casing and check out the front of it... I had an Octane went all awry after I cleaned it. It ended up being the met...
