Re: An item is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay... :)

But then, that's my point, ridiculous is in the eye of the beholder. :D One might think someone is crazy for buying a very famous painting for $20M, but if they then sell it on for $25, well then not so crazy. Or if the painting is in some way very meaningful to them, and they can afford it, then no...

Of course it's also possible the higher bids were fake, just people along for the ride, etc. Happens a lot on ebay, people addicted to just winning auctions, but they never pay up.

As the title says GIJoe, they'd be worth whatever someone is willing to pay. ;)

Re: An item is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay... :)

I guess the key thing is, there's a difference between being irrational and actually having a rationale. :D Buying my Enterprise 128 could be called irrational, but I had genuine personal reasons for buying it, reasons that were important to me. Presumably the C65 buyer was merely two orders of magn...

I actually lol'd... I think the seller might need medical help to recover!! :D

Would have been neat if it had ended on 65 bids, hehe.

Re: An item is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay... :)

There is someone trying to sell an Amiga 1000 for $6k on ebay, like a tard. That's my point though, if someone is happy to pay that much, then why not. Most would laugh, but perhaps there's that one guy who's looking for a particular config, or something totally mint, etc. Who knows. I may see such...

Re: An item is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay... :)

Collecting, by it's very nature isn't rational! That may sum up most of us here. :D But hey, it's fun! Not just hobbyists though. I was once asked by a head admin at a major food factory if I had a particular very ancient IBM 8" floppy for an equally old version of IBM's mainframe OS. Their ma...

IRIS Indigo was always well regarded for its good sound quality.

Re: how things should be shipped properly

I only use ebay to buy stuff, so I wasn't aware. I used ebid to sell things, but alas events got the better of me, site needs a revamp (they changed their setup, all the images, etc. have gone). Very different fee structure with ebid, but the site isn't large enough for general PC tech sales yet. Ni...

Re: how things should be shipped properly

In... 2015 I think it was, out of the two dozen plus O2s I bought that year, the only ones that arrived intact were those for which I sent the seller my own packaging. If the seller used their own packaging, it was wrecked. I've sent my own packaging for people to use at least a dozen times this yea...
