Re: Help with (Freshmen) C++ problem

Thanks for the great info Addict. The C++ language is a lot more involved then I imagined. I've been a system admin since 97' and although I've written a lot of shell code over the years, it's only similar enough to allow me to coast through the first half of this class. I've been reading the chapte...

Re: Help with (Freshmen) C++ problem

Hello Porter, If the Windows OS requires the main to return a value, why doesn't the compiler throw an error? Moreover, why does the executable seem to behave normally? It looks like having a return code in Windows could be advantageous for trouble-shooting. I've been unable to find a good reference...

Re: Help with (Freshmen) C++ problem

Hello All, So, my homework was to write the program to meet a set of requirements, which I did. I'm not asking for someone to complete my homework, rather for some help with a problem. Asking someone to do my homework versus asking for some help are two totally different things. I know people ask fo...

Hello, The program below takes a person's full name as input in Last, First, Middle format and outputs the same data in First, Middle, Last format. The purpose of the program is to play with dynamic arrays and string functions. The program runs in a do/while loop so that the exercise can be repeated...

Enforcing 15 min. screensavers w/password lock

Hello, Using ssaver I can configure my own screen saver timer, select a screen saver, and enable screen locking. When complete, these settings are saved in ~user/.desktop-hostname/pannelboard . I've tried copying those settings into /var/X11/xdm/Xsession thinking that these settings could be applied...

Formatting the login banner - Xresources

Hello,

I've constructed a login banner in the /var/X11/xdmXresources file but the displayed text is centered during login. How do I left justify everything? There doesn't seem to be any documentation on this...

Resolution! "Cannot determine current working directory"

Hello, The final resolution to my problem was to modify the SGI systems /etc/fstab to read vers=2 instead of vers=3. I figured this out using the two links below. Maybe this will help others... http://nfs.sourceforge.net/nfs-howto/ar01s08.html Irix versions up to 6.5.12 have problems mounting file s...

Re: NFS Problem "Cannot determine current working directory"

Hello, As I posted above, I already have the SuSE exportfs file configured like the following; using the no_root_squash flag. With this configuration I'm still having the same error as listed above. rramsey@padme:~> cat /etc/exports /powervault/usr1 *(rw,no_root_squash,sync) /powervault/usr2 *(rw,no...

NFS Problem "Cannot determine current working directory"

Hello, I'm having an issue where I receive a "Cannot determine current working directory" when I try to peform an su or other various commands within an NFS mounted filesystem on an Irix 6.5.5 system. The NFS filesystem is being exported by an Open SuSE 10.2 system (fully patched). So far,...
