Re: Octane arrived. Advice on small problem.

My top screws are completely stripped and won't screw in anymore, I think a pair of pilers / vice grips should sort out your issue. They are kinda flimsy, but then the Octane was never suppose to go through standard shipping channels!. I bought a specific Octane / Indigo2 13w3 -> db15 adapter as not...

The link and guide in the link below is a very useful starter. http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16732152 This is also a good thread. http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16725755 Best thing to do is to start by getting the EDID for your specific monitor, there are num...

Re: Weird Cherokee PSU noise

Hi, this is not the fan. The noise starts when you plug a power cord in while the PSU is outside the Octane. Power cord -> relay click -> weird warbling noise. The fan doesn't spin up, it only spins up when plugged into the Octane.

Weird Cherokee PSU noise

So picked up a cherokee psu last night, it works, ran fine for about an hour, but it makes a weird warbling electrical noise. Anybody have any idea what part might be the culprit? Noise is coming from the fan side. I can return it for a full refund, but if it's going to 'replace 1 dry cap' then I'd ...

VFC compilation error

Whenever I try and and compile a VFO file from a VFS input file I always get a "Could not open <filename>.vfs for reading" where <filename> is my VFS file e.g. 1920x1080_60.vfs This happens with a known 'good' VFS file as even the standard template files generate this error. The files have...

Re: Best processor on Octane 030-0887-004 board

Thanks both. I cannot remember where I read the 0877-004 boards go as high as R14k 600 Mhz for single CPUs but less for dual cpus.

Best processor on Octane 030-0887-004 board

I've read somewhere you can't go above dual 300 cpu's on a 030-0887-004 board, is this correct? If not, what is the fastest CPU module the Octane 1 boards can take? I assume also that a V6 and V8 works with a 1.3 XBow and V10/V12 need XBow 1.4 as long you have a Cherokee PSU for all VPro cards... Th...

Re: O2 and Octane2 Display Modes

This appears to be the fault of the display, not the adapter. I plugged in a Dell 2007 FP today and it works fine. The Dell is a bit borked as it shuts down every so often due to a faulty power circuit but that is a known issue on this specific panel. At least I know the HP panels aren't suitable. N...

Lekker, but how can you have such a boring name for the system?! It deserves something better than IRIS.

Free dual R10k 195mhz Octane cpu module

I was a given two donor Octane machines in various states of repair by a fellow forum member, and after inspecting the contents of the machines I've pulled as much working hardware / skins from them, most is non serviceable. In the interest of passing on good karma I've pulled a working and tested d...

Re: O2 and Octane2 Display Modes

Thanks, the adaptor I have is this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/13W3-M-HD15-SGI-adapter-for-Octane-Octane2-workstation-to-PC-VGA-monitor-DB13W3/321792087296?epid=1748256874&hash=item4aec4d9500:g:22gAAOxyVX1RvFbO It’s supposed to work with any modern flat panel display, or so the vendor says.
