Re: Looking for O2 R5000

At least you'll know that when Ian sends an O2 it will arrive intact, not in a hundred gazillion bits that will only ever be useful again as confetti at a geek wedding!

Wanted: Octane HDD bay plastic fan shroud

I'm looking for a black fan shroud that sits on the back of the SCSI backplane. I recently inherited an Octane without one....

Any condition will do, don't need the actual drive bay fan itself as I have a spare. Cheap please or even better will cover postage ;)

Re: VPro drivers, no network / CDROM source media

Decided to do a clean test run install of 6.5.26 instead via debian server, more educational than anything in anticipation of a new quieter system disk.

VPro drivers, no network / CDROM source media

Hi, I've installed a V6 board into my Octane, it previously had SSI graphics. I have the 6.5.30 install media on my one and only system disk , no CDROM access or remote server access. Is there anyway I can point the PROM 'Install System Software' to the local drive and not a network location? Thanks.

Re: Octane no power?

See if you can beg borrow a PSU locally to test, it it's not that then I'd suspect frontplane, then motherboard.

Re: Hasselblad Assembly

I'm not a camera buff, but I thought this photo essay about Hasselblad's camera assembly process was pretty interesting: https://www.theverge.com/2018/2/6/16977522/hasselblad-camera-factory-tour Thanks for posting the link, had a good read on the train today. I've always wanted a 500 C/M, just love...

Re: Octane no power?

Did you try and power on the unit with only the power supply plugged in plus motherboard?

Just remembered it's no going to do anything without the motherboard plugged in...!

It could be PSU, frontplane or motherboard. Do you have any spares you can test with?

Re: Octane no power?

1 Pull the psu out and plug it into a wall socket, does it make a nice clear click as the relay switches? 2 with power cord out, pull the drives, any external connections, keyboard, mice, graphics board xio carriers, system board carrier - essentially everything but the psu and frontplane. Does it p...

Re: WTB: Cherokee PSU

It's a pity you didn't take any photo's of the blown circuitry, as this could be a weak spot in the design, that can maybe be fixed before it fails catastrophically. ;) Have camera, will take photos! There is no way to get a camera in to the area in question though, it's under the heatsink of the r...

Re: WTB: Cherokee PSU

Isn’t it possible to recap the blown power supply that you have? Or is the problem not capacitor related? It's not caps related, the power input circuit blew near the relay area. The unit emitted a weird warbling noise from the same area before it went poof! I opened it up and it was well cooked, i...

WTB: Cherokee PSU FOUND

My Cherokee I bought on eBay went 'poof' after 2 months, so I'm looking for a replacement. Due to weight I suspect UK and mainland EU would be the only real options for not-so-stupid shipping costs. I'm going to be upfront and say I'm willing to spend up to £50 + shipping for a good working unit as...

Re: Octane1 2x400 MHZ, 640MB RAM, EMXI card.

Nice and clean, you have a bonus in a Cherokee PSU so can pop in a V8 if you get one.

I have to do a clean install + nekoware as well but trying to sort out my vid card first.
