Re: Best processor on Octane 030-0887-004 board

Thanks both. I cannot remember where I read the 0877-004 boards go as high as R14k 600 Mhz for single CPUs but less for dual cpus.

Best processor on Octane 030-0887-004 board

I've read somewhere you can't go above dual 300 cpu's on a 030-0887-004 board, is this correct? If not, what is the fastest CPU module the Octane 1 boards can take? I assume also that a V6 and V8 works with a 1.3 XBow and V10/V12 need XBow 1.4 as long you have a Cherokee PSU for all VPro cards... Th...

Re: O2 and Octane2 Display Modes

This appears to be the fault of the display, not the adapter. I plugged in a Dell 2007 FP today and it works fine. The Dell is a bit borked as it shuts down every so often due to a faulty power circuit but that is a known issue on this specific panel. At least I know the HP panels aren't suitable. N...

Re: Onyx2 quad R14K 500MHz, IR3, 1GB

Lekker, but how can you have such a boring name for the system?! It deserves something better than IRIS.

Free dual R10k 195mhz Octane cpu module

I was a given two donor Octane machines in various states of repair by a fellow forum member, and after inspecting the contents of the machines I've pulled as much working hardware / skins from them, most is non serviceable. In the interest of passing on good karma I've pulled a working and tested d...

Re: O2 and Octane2 Display Modes

Thanks, the adaptor I have is this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/13W3-M-HD15-SGI-adapter-for-Octane-Octane2-workstation-to-PC-VGA-monitor-DB13W3/321792087296?epid=1748256874&hash=item4aec4d9500:g:22gAAOxyVX1RvFbO It’s supposed to work with any modern flat panel display, or so the vendor says. T...

Re: O2 and Octane2 Display Modes

My HP EliteDisplay e241i does not like the signal from the 13W3 - DB15 adapter I just purchased...yes it's a SGI specific one that corrects the sync signal for use with non-SOG monitors. I only see a very badly truncated image with really bad gamma and some bizarre grey borders. I know it's not the ...

Re: The Problem with Apple

heh, reminds me of my P-II machine I had from the beginning of P-II 100 MHz FSB parts until well into P4 days when I moved to AMD for a while. Jobs definitely liked style and not a big fan of expansion. But he also liked things to work. Cook I think is hands off and the ship is being piloted by Ive...

Re: O2 and Octane2 Display Modes

Yeah that's why I queried as the list in the wiki is taken from the SGI webpage about the VPro cards. I have two identical HP 1920x1200 monitors (currently driven by a MacPro) and don't think I want to use a resolution on the Octane via HD15 that is scaled as it looks pretty daft.

Re: O2 and Octane2 Display Modes

I tried the EDID method on my Octane2 with no luck. I'm guessing either I did something wrong or this monitor just isn't going to work. Am I trying to do something here that just may not work? This monitor has a native resolution of 1600x1200@60Hz. The graphics card is an Odyssey (V8) The first gen...

Glad you got it working in the end. I just rejoined the Octane club, almost exactly the same spec but with less ram. Just waiting for for my 13w3-db15 adapter. Enjoy!

Re: Octane lightbar 'white' bulb voltage

Replaced mine with a green 3.3v 25mA LED, looks great with the earlier skins. Wanted something other than the standard white or blue bulbs you see so much of.
