Re: Archiver 0.1 - IRIX/IMD GUI for tar.

Trying hg clone https://mercurial.shangtai.net/repo/Archiver I get abort: error: Connection refused Trying Public URL: https://mercurial.shangtai.net/repo/Archiver I get Unable to connect Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at mercurial.shangtai.net. This should all work now.

Re: Unable to boot via bootp (Octane)

So I rebooted my octane just to see what it says, and I could load stuff off tftp provided I a) set the next-server address (this made it actually perform the tftp request, even though the dhcpd config had server-name set and the prom did say it was loading something off that address) b) DIDN'T set ...

Re: LDAP authentication

I set it up on my Octane Things to keep in mind: You will need to have a local slave ldap server (openldap) if you want to use tls, and you cannot use clogin with pam (you're stuck with the ugly xdm login or something third-party). I suspect changing passwords (EXOP) won't work, but I don't remember...

Re: Archiver 0.1 - IRIX/IMD GUI for tar.

I sure hope I didn't curb development because having a repo with a slow client acts as a retarder to development?

[It's a let's encrypt certificate (I'm cheap) and that might be the issue? Could be, but i can curl https://helloworld.letsencrypt.org/ but not the mercurial repo via https. I don't think the certificate is invalid, it's probably mercurial. If i supply '--insecure' to the https url, it works: It's ...

I don't have any myself, but I understand the Teac drives that SGI used have a plastic cog that tends to break/fall off.

Re: shell script: userfriendly.org comic strip viewer

Hmm, well... I don't know that I agree that you should teach antipatterns like using awk for only splitting lines just to keep it simple. I feel like I've seen too much of when people get taught one thing once and then goes on to blindly use it everywhere. I'd argue that my more complex (not really)...

Re: shell script: userfriendly.org comic strip viewer

I realize this is a throwaway script, but I can't help it... awk is more than { print $1 }. Scrape the URL from userfriendly's ancient markup: ... HTML=$(mktemp) wget -q -O $HTML $URL # URL is defined from user input SRC=$(awk '/ALT="Strip for/ { match($0, /src="[^"]*"/); url=sub...

Re: New O2 owner. It is so cute!

It can't do that on its own; it needs sash to read EFS or XFS. This is similar to second-stage boot loaders for SunOS and other unix systems. Interesting. The command that I was using is now making more sense: boot -f dksc(0,4,8)sashARCS dksc(0,4,7)stand/fx.ARCS --x So the SASH is sitting somewhere...
