Vintage Computer Festival - PNW Feb 10-11

First Vintage Computer Festival Pacific Northwest is happening at Living Computers Museum + Labs in Seattle in just a bit over a week. http://vcfed.org/wp/festivals/vintage-computer-festival-pacific-northwest/ I'll have a Tezro and something(s) else SGI, plenty of other great displays planned. If yo...

Re: Fuel R14000 512Mb

Once the memory modules are disabled the PROM probably doesn't even check if it's there.

Haha, documentation and software out of sync? Never...yeah, you have to just let things like that go.

Re: Fuel R14000 512Mb

About the RAM modules: I did a check and Irix (or the PROM) tells me that the 512Mb DIMM modules aren't responding well so the mahcine disabled it. Actually I removed them, next time I'll mount only them in the first bank (slot 0 and 2, I know). Long ago I had a Fuel that only the first bank worked...

Re: Indigo2 Purple Bag

Looks like it might have had another pad in the large compartment just a couple inches from the keboard/mouse/cable divider. It would have fit the presenter display. You could show up to your sales meeting with your Indigo2 IMPACT 10000, overhead projector, and Presenter1280 display....you'd be one ...

Re: Indy R4400 200MHz 24-bit video 256MB

Bought a bunch of Indys off eBay in 2006 and only last month got around to trying out one of the two I had left. Picked up a few system upgrades and also the SCSI2SD as I'm out of good disks. What a pretty stack of Indy. Which SCSI2SD did you get? Have you given it a try? I have a few systems I wan...

I'll try to present a nice photo of my EEPROM burner in a few days. Been a few years, I guess your EEPROM burner remains secret. I made one last week though. Worked first time! Well it didn't burn the first several words the first time through, but did on subsequent attempts. IMG_3474.jpg I've edit...

Re: Neat Tezro or sale in New York (not mine)

https://www.ebay.com/itm/362222655258?orig_cvip=true sold in ebay - just ebay hiding details from the non listing properties. They do that with mobile too. Also they no longer show the best offer price or if it was sold through best offer. I was eyeing it because V12 + DCD. I didn't want to deal wit...

Re: Before I trash 3 quad Origin 300s...

if your dallas chips work I wouldn't worry too much about them - somewhere around her I used an arduino or teensy actually to read the contents - they're only like 2k of data so you can save it, fill it with FF and then rewrite whatever was originally on it if you need to. Heck, you might be able to...

Re: Before I trash 3 quad Origin 300s...

I have a few of those DALLAS chips, I might have tossed one or two, but I'm saving them now. One day team IP35 is going to need to find out where to file down the case to graft in a new battery. I haven't found a pin compatible replacement, I looked a while back the last time I saw this topic come u...

Re: Indigo 2 Hardware Dilemma!!! :(

I think you can get full money including shipping back through ebay if you get them in on it. I'd try and get the seller to refund all but a fair price for the parts myself, but if it breaks down get ebay in and get that sorted. I know people don't know what happens in the black box that is shipping...

Re: Computer with a real serial port

Another alternative is a cheap and boring Dell Optiplex 980 (2010-ish). Those were built even with a core i7 and have a parallel port, a serial port and ps/2 ports besides 4 usb-ports. They do not occupy a lot of space and are pretty silent machines as well. If portable (laptop) isn't a requirement...

Re: For Sale: SGI Octane2 400MHz 1GB RAM (No faceplate/light bar/sleds)

If Rem or someone else picks this up, I picked up some lightbars and have a couple spares - I haven't tested them but expect I have a few that light up, if not I can make a LED modded light bar.

Re: The Problem with Apple

heh, reminds me of my P-II machine I had from the beginning of P-II 100 MHz FSB parts until well into P4 days when I moved to AMD for a while. Jobs definitely liked style and not a big fan of expansion. But he also liked things to work. Cook I think is hands off and the ship is being piloted by Ives...

what's the deal with the new iOS calculator? I'm behind, the wife-unit upgraded and complains of poor battery life so I keep telling my phone to wait until later. The only iOS calculator problem I know of is the stupid key-click in the calculator doesn't have an option to disable, doesn't take the s...
