Re: Indigo 2 Hard drive compatibility

Here's the manual: http://www.fujitsu.com/downloads/COMP/fel/support/disk/manuals/c141-e226-01en.pdf Looks like it should negotiate Single-Ended. For my Indy and Indigo2's I have been using IBM 73gb 10k 2.5" SCA drives, they're Ultra320. I tried a modern drive in an Indigo once and it didn't wo...

Re: Indigo 2 Hard drive compatibility

That drive might be too new. Indigo2 is SCSI-2 FAST, and that drive is about 4 standards ahead, drives are supposed to negotiate down, but some have dropped some support. One thing to check for before giving up on that drive is a FORCE SE jumper, enable that feature if the drive has it. It would be ...

Re: Indigo 2 Hard drive compatibility

I guess, one more thing - you should have seen the drive show up in your hinv, but as id 2. Check that the drive is plugged in and maybe you can hear it spin up. Like mentioned above by Trippynet, be sure the board isn't pushed into the back of the drive and shorting out. I usually wrap the back of ...

Re: Indigo 2 Hard drive compatibility

If you're lucky you can land that connector on the id0-id2 pins on that adapter board. Then if you plug the drive in the lower slot it would be id 1 and the upper slot would set the drive to id 2. Or it won't work correctly and you'll end up on id 7 or reversed or some odd thing. You could move the ...

Re: A Guide on Your Options for non-x86 Computers (2017)

Pinebook huh, I got in on the PINE64 initial kickstarter and it was....bumpy. It took two additional emails to get all my bits. Are they really in a position to be successful with a $100 laptop? I mean I'd drop a $100 on one to play with...but I don't feel like their product was supported very well ...

Re: Octane ESI / R12000 300Mhz / 512MB

PCI Card Cage hanging out the back (nickname shoebox) with a IOC3 or CADduo card. Since you have only a single graphics board I imagine it was added to provide a second ethernet port.

Re: Formatting large disks in windows, 4tb shows up as ~1.63tb

I just did this with a G-Tech enclosure (fw800/usb2/esata) myself with a 3TB drive, ended up buying a 2TB drive instead.

Isn't that like $5 of aluminum for the case?

Edit: Then again, the sporting goods guys want a lot for target - carry on.

Re: KVM in laptop shape, does it exist?

They use CAT5,5e,6,etc. from proprietary dongles on the hosts to the KVM switch, like you described. The KVM switch also has 1 (or two for redundancy) ethernet ports to talk TCP/IP for managing the KVM switch and attached hosts. Raritan Dominion KX III would be one of the top models (or KSX II, or L...

Who let those HP boxes invade that beautiful rack of IBM gear? Ugh - I don't much like those old HPs, so slow now and they suck down power like no one's business. Hmm, that's all pretty old stuff by the looks of it.

Re: KVM in laptop shape, does it exist?

I haven't seen a laptop kvm. The closest I can think of to what Raion-Fox mentions is a HMC for Power, but I don't think they did a laptop version. For the mainframes they did use a ThinkPad for a management console - but like the HMC it's software that interacts with the system and wired directly. ...

DS1687-5+ is an active part according to Maxim. Looks like the DS17x87-5 would work, but has a bunch more NV memory.
