Re: archive.org -- SGI Software Library

FWIW, I got in touch with "Sketch the Cow" who is uploading those SGI disc images to archive.org. He indicated that he would love to get more uploads and can provide an archive.org FTP account for anyone with "a ton" of stuff to upload. PM me if you would like his email address. ...

Re: Anyone test SCSI->SATA adapters? SD Card readers?

You can pre-order an adapter that converts SD to SCSI here: http://shop.codesrc.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59&product_id=58 I have no experience with the product, but its creator is active on the vintage Macintosh forums; see a thread about the product at: https://68kmla.org/fo...

Indy cards: "sync comm" and mystery

A kindly NetBSD developer gave me these two cards, believed to be Indy add-ins. One is labeled "SYNC COMM" with SGI part number 030-0530-002. The other has no SGI part number nor logo, just an assembly number of 170-00521-00. Does anyone have more information on these? Are there drivers? C...

Re: want: indigo-style kb+mouse and onyx bits

does anybody have a spare indigo-style keyboard, mouse, and cable available? I have an Indigo 1 (9500801) keyboard boxed up and ready to ship (last taker disappeared). Can't remember whether there is a cable in the box. No mouse. You pay shipping from 02143. Or, you mail me a good, working black PC...

lol... I had a brand new (Sony) Indy PS, still in the original SGI Field Service box as it was shipped to my former employer in 1998 when all our Nidecs started to go pop. Glad to see it put to use!

Re: Indy display: cable OK, console=g, but blank screen; help?

Nope, but it's fixed now: this was a classic "error between keyboard and chair."

Sync-on-green doesn't do much good when you plug the green output into your monitor's blue input. Well, it was cramped squeezing my head behind the desk. *sigh*

Indy display: cable OK, console=g, but blank screen; help?

I am trying to get an Indy going again after a long time powered off. I am using a 13w3-to-BNC cable that worked just fine on another Indy (which I don't have anymore.) My Viewsonic P775 monitor supports sync-on-green. The Indy boots up just fine and I can log in on a serial console-- or over the ne...

Wanted: eBay SGI category back!

I'm getting tired of the arrogant whims of eBay over the years: ever-growing lists of prohibited items; forbidding Google Checkout; forcing new sellers to accept PayPal. But now they've taken the cake by nuking the SGI category without a word of warning. Honestly, what does it cost them to have anot...

does anyone have an IDE-SCSI converter (preferably the Yamaha V769970) for sale or trade in Europe/Germany? Those Yamaha units seem to show up pretty frequently on ebay.de. e.g.: http://search.ebay.de/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=v769970&category0= Right now there are ...

"
CPaint" is a spiffy Chinese painting package at http://www-viz.tamu.edu/showcase/thswkimg/c_chan/.

It's SGI-specific and requires a Wacom tablet.
Source code is available from the download page.

Re: Indy Floptical?

You can find Indy floptical drives from time to time, but I would bet that there are no working ones left in existence, because the drives are crap. Even the working ones don't last long. I had one in a nearly-new Indy I inherited from the office years back. I used it less than half a dozen times be...

Re: Need EDO Memory for a Dual-PPro/NT4/Oxygen 202 workstation

Are you 100% sure that the PR440FX can't take 256 MB DIMMs? It may only be that when it was released, there was no spec for 256 MB DIMMs, so it was only tested with 128 MB DIMMs, but that 256 MB DIMMs work just fine. I have a vague recollection which may be unfounded that you should add DIMMs in pai...

Re: Best SCSI Hdd`s for SGI boxes are ?

For Indys at least, there is the option of using an IDE drive with an Acard or similar adapter. See the page at http://www.futuretech.blinkenlights.nl/idescsi.html . The Acard adapter mentioned on that page can be had for thirty bucks or so on eBay now, and I have found recent-vintage Seagate IDE dr...
