Yes, V6 platform was release at the begining of 2009 ... Yikes ! That just shows you how boring pirate software gets after you have two closets full of the junk. Hell, I guess the Software Business has lost $987,000 on me alone ! :P shame on you Hamei, How is poor old Larry Ellison gonna afford his...

Re: Piracy

the plan will likely succeed....7 decades after it was launched. "Gee Brain, what are we going to do tonight? Same thing we do every twenty years, Pinky. Try to take over the world." That line seems to work for many government officials, though... i think Pinky is probably more competent ...

Re: Piracy

Actually, you can own weapons in the EU. Very hard in Ireland, for example handguns are basically illegal, and to get a license for a hunting shotgun or small bore hunting rifle (.22) you get a full security check. Having a warzone for 30years on your northern border tends to result in such things....

Document regarding the port of NeWs windows to 4D/70

I like reading about old Windowing systems from the 1980's. Often the problem is finding enough documentation about them. Anyways while doing some reading up about Sun's NeWs system I came across the following in google books: http://books.google.com/books?id=xHSoK66z34YC&lpg=PA193&pg=PA187#...

Re: Ibm in talks to buy Sun

Wonder will Oracle keep developing BRTFS for Linux now that they own (Open)Solaris and ZFS, given that I use OpenSolaris as my laptop OS I'm curious what's gonna happen over next year.

Given that they have Solaris now they might drop their respin of RHEL (Unbreakable Linux? -- there's an oxymoron)

Re: Halloween

interesting - Halloween seems to be a big deal (well very commercial) in the US, not so much here in Germany. In Scotland (when I was much younger) people would go 'guising' - the Jock version of trick or treating... Indeed well Halloween is of Irish/Scottish (we could say "celtic") origi...

Re: Is it possible to port WINE to IRIX?

dude, if you can port it up to IRIX. It'd be freakin damn awesome. I'd give you lots of kissed if you can make it lol  The only use I could see for a native port of Wine is that it would give a native mips win32 api, of course the only use for that is if you have some native win32 application ...

Re: extracting driver from Solly 10

Ah, ok. I didn't realise the driver was present in Nevada. But it's strange that it's in Nevada but not in Open Solaris. Although, barring the image packaging system, there aren't many differences between Nevada and OpenSolaris. Indeed, well "Indinana" (Opensolaris distro) is basically a ...

Re: extracting driver from Solly 10

Sorry to dissapoint, but even if you manage to get the driver out of Solaris (which isn't difficult) the chances of it working under OpenSolaris is quite slim. There are a lot of low level interface changes and enough things that are different for it not to work. It's like getting a Linux 2.4 drive...
