Re: Boot sounds from SGIs

Sorry to bump such an old topic but does anybody have the collection of sounds? The link is broken and I can't seem to locate the file from when I downloaded it.

Re: Heading to DEFCON this year. What should I be taking?

Honestly you probably don't need to bring machines like that, there is so much stuff going on that you are going to be busy...if anything bring a smaller desktop or a laptop with you if you want to have a machine there. Everything in Vegas is 21, I have never heard of a 18+ place, it just doesn't se...

Re: Ach! Broken hinge!

I must say I'm really impressed by this little work-horse! It still manages 90% of stuff I need to do, but alas is starting to show with bloated Flash and heavy RAM intensive apps. Who thought in 2002 you wouldn't need more than 1 Gig of RAM?!? I still have mine and I am impressed with what it stil...

Re: Magic 1 homebrew cpu

I can't even imagine the time and work that went into something like that. I have spent hours programming FPGAs and at least there when you mess something up it is just a quick line of code change opposed to rewiring.

Re: Windows 7...

Vista 1.0 or Vista SP1? Vista 32 or 64? Which edition? All of the above impact Vista performance. Anything would be an improvement over 32bit Vista 1.0, whereas 64bit SP1 isn't too bad. I was running Vista 64bit SP1 before, not the greatest but not the worst thing I have ever seen. It was on a Dell...

Re: Windows 7...

I am running Win 7 64-bit on my laptop, C2D 2.66GHz, 4GB ram and it is pretty quick compared to Vista. It has been a little while since I ran Vista on this machine, it is what it came with, but I am going to say that there is a decent performance gain. Resource usage is also down which is also good....

Re: Mupen64 PLUS

Keep up the good work with the dev work!! I have been thinking about working on getting it compiled on my Octane 2, I just have not had a whole lot time recently. I am thinking that I would see a decent performance hit going to that from my laptop though, but maybe if I get some time this weekend I ...

Re: Mupen64 PLUS

I have a PS2 -> USB adapter and use a PS2 controller with pretty good results. I have been thinking about building a USB N64 controller but I have not got around to it yet. Great program though, it was nice to see an update to Mupen finally.

Re: New Mac itch

1.5 GHz G4 / the workhorse, goes everywhere that I go I have one of those also and it is just a great machine. There is really nothing about it that I don't like, well minus the soon to be death of Apple and PPC. I have been thinking about picking up one of the MBP 15", not the new one though,...

Nice! I really need to pick up one of those someday, they just seem to be out of my price range at the moment which sucks.

I'm not sure that it has enough power to make much of a media streamer. It is a really cool little box.
