Thinking about selling/trading my Onyx2 Deskside

All, I'm thinking about selling/trading my Onyx2 deskside. This unit was originally a demo unit on loan to an aero company from SGI. I've been slowly collecting boards to get it back into shape. I have two processor boards, graphics board and a raster board. The unit would also come with one drive l...

Onyx2 DG5-2

Looking for a basic DG5-2 display board for my Onyx2 deskside. I'm running 110v power and have limited space for extra monitors, so I don't need anything fancy. This will complete the initial rebuild on my system :D

Anyone still have a spare?

Re: ebay: sgi octane3 possibly

I have an early vs100 in my closet with a dual socket xeon motherboard. (Albeit fsb system). Its a bit noisy and it only has a quadro fx card in it. Looks very similar to this. Not chassis extension off the right side of the chassis. The octane3's are of similar size, but they have a single faceplat...

The XD1 is the remnant of Cray/Tera's acquisition of OctigaBay. Interesting system with FPGA's

Oddly enough, I was just Googling through some recent SiCortex sales. I would love to get my hands on such a system. PM sent.

Very cool. I remember seeing a few of these wandering about in the various Sunnyvale labs.

Re: Pathscale EKOPath4 Support for MIPS?

I pulled the source down from their website. It appears that the compiler does actually include MIPS as a build target. I have yet to attempt this build it though on any of my systems. For those interested, the source is hosted on github which doesn't seem to be affected by the dreaded "Slashdo...

Pathscale EKOPath4 Support for MIPS?

Does anyone know if the latest open sourced version of EKOPath4 still contains support for MIPS? If so, any help on the build config would be greatly appreciated.

Recondas, thanks for the response. The 256MB units seem to be more readily available.

Onyx2 Deskside Memory Options

All, I was curious if anyone knew the "rules" associated with populated memory DIMMs on a set of IP31 boards for an Onyx2 deskside system? The official SGI manual says 64MB DIMMs are the largest supported [16x64x2 == MAX 2GB of memory]. I see lots of 256MB DIMMs list on fleabay and other p...

Re: Anyone still running a Reality Center 3300W?

Oh yeah. I seem to remember observing that setup in one of the SGI engineering offices [before they were mothballed]. :D At first I wasn't sure you can run that from a deskside, but it looks like you can (for a small setup, anyway). Gotta love a product whose manual has a chapter devoted to successf...

Anyone still running a Reality Center 3300W?

I'm in the process of "restoring" a gently used Onyx2 deskside. Outside of having some unsightly stickers on the top, the skins are almost flawless. I figured it would make a fun project and office toy. Depending upon which graphics boards I source for the project, I was hoping to get some...

The open64 port to Longsoon is supposed to be progressing well, but I don't track top of tree close enough to measure how far off it is.
