Re: Your favourite XKCD comic

I refuse to be limited to some arbitrary number of xkcd comics, unless that number is asymptotic to the number of xkcd comics currently known to exist. Well said! Hem hem, as an actual physicist, I will quote another physicist: "It should be emphasized that when we say a limit is “equal ...

Re: Before I trash 3 quad Origin 300s...

Digikey was stocking Dallas chips not too long ago but I just looked and they're not anymore. Checked Newark too, no soap. Now what are we going to do?

Re: ipfilterd udp

Just guessing but it could be that one of your network related /etc/config/*.options files is messed up... sure that was the first thing i checked but i didn't change anything in there except for the ips. same goes for the hosts file and exports. i don't use nis or similar stuff. You probably alrea...

Re: Your favourite XKCD comic

I'd like to say it's The Circuit Diagram, but that comes way too close to my everyday grind, basically the same reason why I couldn't watch The Office.

Re: SOLVED: Stoopid Dell monitor

Ah! I see it now, in the Pastas pdf (which I was trying to follow), it says "Vertical Back Porch = 36 It is a VFC requirement that the V_Back_Porch gets written decreased by 2, compared to what it actually is." Would be better if he also said that at the top where he first defines the vert...

Re: SOLVED Stoopid Dell monitor

my monitor's modeline it should be 26 but that wouldn't compile, for some reason Neko had his at 24 and that worked, but I don't know why it did or why mine didn't... The VFC compiler requires the Vertical Backporch be reduced by 2 pixels, hence the reduction from 26 to 24. ;) Now you tell m...

Re: SOLVED Stoopid Dell monitor

No doubt it's a thing of beauty but in other news I copied the vfs file Neko posted in this thread for his Dell 2407WFP and, miracle of miracles, it works perfectly with my Dell U2412M! I am now just as happy as though I were in my right mind! :D See, just needed some custom loving! I did...

Re: SOLVED: Stoopid Dell monitor

I wish I could've grabbed the whole monitor, but it was a heavy mess of broken, brittle plastic. I bought my X7136A for practically nothing from the now long-defunct workstationsetc.com, and was beyond astonished when it showed up brand new and unused in the original packaging, without a scratch on...

As long as you're a happy camper... As Dan Quayle told the Samoans, "You all look like happy campers to me!" When my Indy comes home, I'll have to use it with an old 17" SyncMaster 700p CRT...old, failing, but the only POS I own that does SoG. Yeah, I could build a sync separat...

Re: Stoopid Dell monitor

I suppose it doesn't really matter if I break it since it's getting too blurry to be useful anymore. Other than the blur the thing is mint though. Plus I excel at breaking home appliances, my dishwasher's thermal fuse blew, and not having a replacement I jumpered around it with an alligator clip, it...
