Re: WTB: Old and obsolete HW in the Netherlands...

I have a R10k O2 available, with disk and IRIX 6.2x installed.... I have to give it some thought. I already own on O2 (but R5k though). That may put you in range of Cologne. I have a DEC VT420 and a Sun Ultra 60 available Sounds yummy! I'll PM you right away. I've still got some stuff I hardly ever...

Re: WTB: Old and obsolete HW in the Netherlands...

Thank you for the offer, but if I cannot drive to pick it up, it would have to be sent to Poland. And I believe shipping would be really expensive...

Thanks anyway!

WTB: Old and obsolete HW in the Netherlands...

As jan-jaap suggested I'm posting here. Maybe I'll have some more luck than on my own. Here goes: I'm looking for old RISCy stuff... This covers: -SGI -HP PA-RISC -IBM RS or PreRP -Sun -Cobalt -Digital -serial terminals Although my profile location says Poland, right now I live in Netherlands (Gelde...

Re: Kringloopwinkels, Marktplaats or ...?

Most of my stuff has come from the environment that it was working in...or other hobbyists.. Don't be afraid to dig in the dumpsters behind the local SGI office... That is certainly true. But beeing a foreigner makes things a lot more difficult. First of all, you need to know somebody. Then, some f...

Kringloopwinkels, Marktplaats or ...?

Hi again everybody! :D Right now, I live (temporarily) in the Netherlands. Since this country is obviously richer in technological wonders than my own ;) I figured, why not fish out something nice, obsolete and fitting to my hobby (read - old and junky computer hardware). I started with Kringloopwin...

Nasty IPX

Some time ago, I got myself a SparcStation IPX. After long quest for proper serial cable (even 8pin minidin plug itself is *very hard* to come by in here) I was finally able to talk to it. Having zero Sun peripherals, it was the only way. So.... I patched NVRAM contens to get rid of ff:ff:..... atte...

Re: Portable serial console?

Yes, there was a Swedish manufacturer that made the Minec 1000:.... There we have it! :D Thanks much for photos - this is exactly what I had in mind. I guess this is pretty much unobtainium these days, right? ...laptop wants to suspend the USB port... In Windows you can forbid suspending USB device...

Re: Portable serial console?

Hmm, looks like nobody (i.e. company) ever came up with an idea of truly portable serial terminal device. Shame, as it would be really cool to see something of a small laptop, with nice LCD screen and VT funcionality... And to those that offered more practical solutions - no no, I'm not trying to ac...

Portable serial console?

Hi again (after a long while)... In case you are wondering about the title, I'll elaborate a little bit. Machine which is a size of a laptop/notebook/netbook/tablet/whatever portable, that is *only* a dumb serial terminal. Was something like this ever created? I tried to google something about a dev...
