Re: Is there a way to see what the current blocksize is for a XFS filesystem?

Hi GIJoe77, I guess you can call this a galant effort then ... Quite a while ago when I was putting ACARDs into vintage Mac, I found that later firmware did not work and I had to back flash to older firmware for it to work with vintage Mac (SE/30). EDIT: SE/30 was introduced in 1989 so must be 5 MB/...

Re: Is there a way to see what the current blocksize is for a XFS filesystem?

Hi GIjoe77, Interesting bag of results. Did you rebuild xfs with bigger block size ? As most disks are 512 byte sector and most modern fs 4096 byte blocks, it would be interesting to try xfs with 512 and see if diskperf then starts at 512 rather than 4096. Looks like SCSI2SD emulation layer could do...

Re: Is there a way to see what the current blocksize is for a XFS filesystem?

Hi GIjoe77,

See you got SCSI2SD going...

Read performance looks pretty good, but write is big drop.

How does it compare to spinning disk on same machine ?

Cheers,

jwhat.

Re: Origin 300 L1 Firmware Update notes.

Hi L1 Flashers... , as owner of various O350 (Chimera) and Numalink Router machines, I have become pretty familiar with L2/L1 SW and have found that by using various later versions of flashsc you can force your machine to move to older L1 versions. My question is does any one know what was the earli...

Re: Tezro Quad R16K 700MHz, 7GB , V12, DM-3, Gigabit ethernet, USB Card, 2x Dual 4 Gigabit Fibre-channel, Dual Serial Ca

Hi Irinikus, Promise VTRAK arrays are available cheap via eBay, as pretty much all enterprise fc has moved to 16Gbs quite some time ago. I paid usd $ 300 for empty one a few years ago, before I moved to SAS direct connect (on Apple box). It would likely cost more to ship than cost of array. 4TB SAS ...

Re: What Apple hardware do we have?

Hi Guardian452, Yes good point about starting price and expandability being key. Right now I have Areca 1883 RAID card (with external disks) and Nvidia Titan X in my classic Mac Pro. As starting config I would need ability to support 2 CPUs, and be able to swap Areca and Nvidia PCIe boards into any ...

Hi Irinikus, The top unit is sgi version of EMC Clarion (I used to have one..). They were 1GB FC-AL interface with FC 3.5” disks. Suggest you avoid these as native FC disk only have small capacities and are no longer made. If you are looking for FC-AL connected disks, then suggest you look at Promis...

Re: DMediaPro DM2/DM3/DM5 and VBOB Compatibility

Hi VBOB'ers, have still not got complete DM2/DM3 <--> VBOB/DM5 <--> SDI chain working, but have been doing extra testing and investigation. As I am having lots of issues, I have had to start going systematically through every link in chain. So I am: 1. Getting alternate DM3 boards to test with 2. Ma...

Re: New to SGI, not really sure what I've got my hands on.

Hi roberttx, yes the serial port is standard and clearly labelled. It is top serial port next to power plug labelled "CONSOLE", yes you will need null modem cable with 38400, 8 Bits, No Stop Bit . I use USB to RS242 Adaptor to connect to mine. The exception is the router, which does not ha...

Re: New to SGI, not really sure what I've got my hands on.

Hi Robertx, Here is quick summary on what you have. 1. Some bootable O350 (Origin/Onyx - not really important as it is modular system and all parts are inter-changeable). These are ones with the IO9 card in bottom slot, with combination of Ethernet / SCSI port. The ones with Graphics in them will re...

Re: 3D Printed IP59_4CPU/2U_INT_53 Board Locator

Hi marshalh, electrical connections on 2U_INT_53 are simply flat plates, while those on the IP59_4CPU have flower like "petals" that provide guiding point for flat plate to slot in. One pair petals per single flat plate. I do not know how these where manufactured, but pulling plastic over ...
