WTB: Indy power supply/memory

I bought a cheap Indy on eBay, turns out it's a 100 MHz R4600PC, no RAM/HDD, and Sony power supply that seems dead. Pushing the power button turns the LED red for a split second and then it goes out. Does anyone in the US have a spare working power supply, and/or memory they want to get rid of? The ...

Re: stupid PA-RISC laptop tricks

MS used MainSoft's MainWin porting tool to port the normal Windows IE, so it should work exactly the same. I tried the SPARC one way back when, I seem to remember finding a fake C drive hierarchy in IE's settings directory (like what Wine creates)

Oh man, those IRIS Universe issues bring back some memories. When I was a kid my dad would bring them home from work, I specifically remember that issue with the Freightliner on the cover.

Re: Porting of openrw (Open Source Rewrite of the GTA3 engine) to IRIX

That would be cool, but the OpenGL renderer uses shaders--way too new for IRIX.

Re: Challenge DM in SoCal free to good home

Bump...I still have this machine, but my convenient place to store it will be going away within a month or so, and I don't know what to do with it after that.
I'd be open to shipping it but I'm not exactly sure how--pallet? Or a very tough cardboard box and my heavily discounted UPS rates?

Re: IRIX simulation software

I remember playing some of these demos on an Onyx1, I believe an RE2. This company did work with Paradigm so it may have been an internal demo CD, I remember it was burned and had a buttonfly interface allowing you to play from the CD or install. It had Certain Impact, Egghead Shred, the Apex F14 si...

Challenge DM in SoCal free to good home

I've had this Challenge DM for a few years and it's in great shape, I just don't have a place to keep it any more. Big big note: there are no boards inside the cage. CPU, memory, I/O boards were all gone when I got it. However, the skins are all present and in great shape, and all the other ancillar...

Re: Apple Workgroup Server 9150

Great read, thanks for posting it!

I'd love to know what goals Apple had in mind when developing/supporting MkLinux. A server OS more stable/compatible than classic Mac OS/Copland? Or just another random thing to spend money on without a clearly defined purpose?

Can I also request that mdl reverse-engineers the IRIX binary and turns it into a live wallpaper for my desired platform? :P

Re: This is list of commercial PPC, Sparc and Alpha games

I'm pretty sure this is just a list of commercial Linux PPC/SPARC/Alpha games. If you wanted to list every commercial game ever written for a certain instruction set (regardless of OS/machine), it would be an interesting (although completely pointless) exercise to see which ISA had the most games. &...

Re: Firefox 10 Porting Progress

Another headache is that the garbage collector wants access to a threads stack and stacksize. On most platforms, this is handled by a non-POSIX pthread extension that can grab a running threads attributes, and report the base/stacksize. I couldn't find an equivelent function on IRIX that worked*, s...

Get current thread stack base

It seems like a recurring problem for anyone trying to compile a modern web browser/JS engine (whether it's KJS/WebKit or Firefox) on IRIX is the lack of a function to get the stack base for the current thread. Well, here you go: #if (_MIPS_SIM == _MIPS_SIM_NABI32) #define STK_BASE_OFFSET 0x74 // N3...
