Re: your latest purchase

I found me a second Canon A1 Digital. Now I have two matched cameras for my stereoscopic tripod. Came in an aftermarket bag with all the necessary stuff like manuals, cabling, (dead) batteries, straps, random tape of Anon's first birthday and the AC adapter, plus the optional shotgun microphone. Lik...

Re: What pointless thing are you doing right now?

In an effort to reduce the amount of racket going up through my workshop ceiling and into the dining room above I have installed a buttload of foam panelling. CGS_7750.JPG I had to spray it all with a bitterant in the hopes the mice don't start making a home out of it. I cann't get the taste off my ...

Re: CRT Projector for Bedroom Entertainment Setup?

The one advantage I've found that the CRT units have over LCD and DLP units are that they are much better at resolution scaling. I can find the usual 1024x768, 1920x720 or 1920x1080 units(or units that totally say they are but they are TOTALLY scaling the hell out of something smaller) but they do r...

Re: An item is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay... :)

IIRC, the reason machines like the C65 fetch so much is that they are true limited production machines. They were all prototypes. Until now I was not aware a machine that not only worked (ALL the ASIC's were present and the ROMs would function) but was also as complete as this one even existed. When...

I don't even know why I did this.

A six foot scsi cable??

Try something a little bit shorter. I've run into problems when the daisy chain was excessively long. Mainly read and bus errors.

I can add that Deadly Rooms of Death loaded and played fine however something was horribly broken with the Sound Blaster emulation.

Re: Quake 1 on O2

I spun up my O2 to test this out for EmpireAndrew.. all I get is a black screen.. i can hear things happening and can use (hear) arrows/enter key but all black.. whether running darkplaces-glx or darkplaces-sdl. It may be because I have my O2's resolution set to 1440x900_60 (custom vfo) and 32x32 b...

Re: Article: The Coming Software Apocalypse

I have a lot of IoT devices here for home automation, but they live behind a very strict firewall that cannot route to the Internet directly, and I manipulate their APIs directly instead of using whatever client they offer. I've always been a strong opponent to IoT. For as much as I throw around th...

Re: Article: The Coming Software Apocalypse

All I got out of that was that we rely far too much on automation for simple tasks, either to save money or because people are lazy. I mean, I get that is true in say, IoT. Otherwise modern programmers suck. Their teaching sucks. Their code sucks. I attended a university programming class where opti...

I assume that as this forum slowly winds down form the active days of yesteryear it had to be pruned because it was simply consuming bandwidth for photos form members, many of who have not been active or years. Also, the gallery has been closed for new uploads for years. Aside form cool photos it no...

Re: How frequently you use your SGI (in 2017)?

The O2 is in my bedroom. It's plugged into a shunt relay power bar so that Saturday morning at 9AM (I do love how it supports auto power on) it and the external peripherals turn on and come up.
Then it typically sees IRC and gmail inbox use for most of the weekend.
