Re: Indy and indigo2 emulation in MESS (WIP)
I would be happy to support development on SGI MESS through Patreon (?), Kickstarter or similar, and guess there is a bit of interest in this. Anyone up to the task of starting a project (Dexter already has started - but maybe some additional incentive to work on it would be nice)?

Re: Strange board from 02...
Only if you have Barco products installed. It will display RGB-CMYK conversions faster to screen, and possibly aid in conversions. I have the Creator software, and remember there is a menu choice for it. However, it was originally designed for the Indigo 1 (way back in 1993!), so I don't know if the...

Re: Barco Creator
Maybe the program which converts from TIF to CVW is missing some path variable. After installing from the CD, you need to do the following, according to the manual: As a normal user (the user account where you expect to run Creator), you need to run /bg/gen/local/com/install_bgpath, and /bg/gen/loca...

Re: SGI Art Gallery
Always thought it was good idea to have a thread like this - so let's revive it from the dead...! The buyer for my Indigo2 didn't come through, so I've been playing with the Warp function in Creator a bit... Original: original.jpg Warp function: warp.jpg Final result after some retouching and curves...

Re: SGI O2 + Indigo2 (incl. Barco paperwork) in Bergen, Norway
Hehe, it seems my technique worked - the Indigo2 is SOLD. I also reduced the price of the O2 a bit. Regarding distance - I regularly use the direct flight from Bergen to Frankfurt - it's only about €100 - which would be cheaper than shipping most any SGI from Norway (of course there are costs to get...

Re: SGI O2 + Indigo2 (incl. Barco paperwork) in Bergen, Norway
I've made some updates/upgrades; I found some additional ram sticks, so the O2 now has 416mb ram instead of 384mb. Originally I noted that the Indigo2 used to shut down after a few hours - I think this had to do either with the power cable, socket or similar - I've now run it several days in a row f...

SGI O2 + Indigo2 (incl. Barco paperwork) in Bergen, Norway
I am selling all my stationary computers, and sadly that will have to include my SGI O2 and Indigo2... SGI O2 R10000 225mhz (originally a R5000 180mhz - the old module is also included) 416MB RAM (comes with 2 additional 128MB sticks (672MB in theory), but I had some (unknown) errors with at least o...

Re: Best way to learn Flame / Smoke
You should check out the courses from http://www.fxphd.com, from what I've seen and heard they are great! (Approx $150 per course or so - but compared to official Autodesk training I believe it's a bargain). There were some older training DVDs from cmivfx.com, but I don't think they were as well reg...

Re: irix different apps questions
Creator 7.2 doesn't support jpg - only TIFF, PSD (and doesn't import PSD layers) and some proprietary drum-scan formats - these are converted to Barco's own .cvw format. The cvw files can be opened in photoshop CS4 with a plugin, but again, no layers... It began development on 4 CPU Power series sys...

Re: So, should I go to law school?
I'm due to begin my fifth and final year of law-school this fall. IANAL, but I'll tell you what I've learnt... You'll be buried in text-books, reading verdicts etc... which requires a lot of _hard work_, don't underestimate this! It has a reputation of being based on "rote memorization", b...

Re: Nekochan Census Poll: What's your IQ?
Two fun facts I picked up while studying psychology; a) 90% of people will estimate their IQ to be "above average". Knowing this bias, a "smart person" (without other info) would guess/estimate their IQ to be exactly average. Still noone likes to be just "average", or e...

Re: VFO Video Format Compiler Questions
I recently built a 1440x900 vfo for my Dell 2407WFP (based on a dell modeline) connected to an O2. It's a bit fuzzy for a 1920x1200 panel, but looks heaps better than any 4:3 mode stretched...! While the O2 supports 1600x1024 on the 17" SGI, I never could get this res to work on the Dell... it ...
