Re: 1x fuel 2x o2 4x 1600sw 1x octane + bunch for free

Can you please PM me your exact address? I may be interested as my brother lives in Vienna which is not too far from Prague. Do you have any software that comes with those machines?

Re: SGI Prism for Sale in London

You might want to read through this thread before deciding - all three of your questions are discussed: http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16724118& That just cured me of any temptation. The only interesting thing would have been to run graphical Irix-software in QuickTransit bu...

Oops, my bad...maybe the drivers on HP's support site for the zx2000/zx6000 may work (since it is a similar machine)?

Other than that there is always Supportfolio but I deactivated my account after having divested all my SGI gear.

Re: SGI Prism for Sale in London

Given the fact that no additional components and no hard disks are included as well as no guarantee is given that the machine actually works beyond powering up makes me reluctant to pay more than £100 for it - you may just buy an expensive doorstop. I am not sure you can even get all the software ne...

SGI Prism for Sale in London

While browsing through Gumtree I came across this ad for a "SGI Prism Server" even though it looks like the deskside to me: http://www.gumtree.com/london/53/69885753.html Seems to have the lowest processors but the highest gfx spec. Would not pay £500 as no accessories apart from a power c...

Cutting WMV and Converting FLV on Mac

Hi all, Are there tools similar to the PC-only AviSynth/VirtualDub combination that enables simple cuts in different video files (wmv, avi, mpg) without having to re-encode the entire video file? I have a bunch of clips I just want to cut and (given they have the same resolution) join but I am not k...

Bunch of SGI 750 on eBay UK

These two are currently up and have been listed repeatedly: http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=sgi+750&_sacat=See-All-Categories The cosmetic condition of these is terrible, however, and I doubt that you would get much more than the box itself. Please note tha...

Re: iMac thoughts?

I got myself a top-of-the-line 27" iMac with the i7 processor and an Intuos4 graphics tablet. No issues so far (but then I followed the advice on the Apple boards and reinstalled everything fresh after formatting the harddisk proper before even using it for the first time). My neighbour was so ...

Re: New 27" iMac!

Just placed an order for an i7 27" iMac - my first ever Mac :). Unfortunately they have problems with the delivery dates - if they are unable to ship it this week I will have to cancel it and reorder as I am going away for two weeks... There seem to be some problems with the screen on the big M...

Re: The new SGI corporate image must be a joke right ?

Amiga is still around - maybe they can pick up Sgrackable in a year for £2.50 and then the two companies pioneering computer graphics have finally merged. Not that anybody would care by then any more...

Even NASA does not see the need for Itanic any more as their latest 20,480-core SGI system will have Xeons in it:

Re: SGI Bought by Rackable

The Amigas were good products for their time but that didn't help overall since Commodore was blowing all the money earned on flops such as the CD-ROM based products, the A600 and an A4000 that was in many ways a step back from the A3000. Same with SGI - the Altix 450 may be selling well but their r...

Re: SGI Bought by Rackable

This reminds me so much of the Amiga saga it's uncanny. Commodore went bust in 1994, was bought by Escom who went bust themselves a year later and since then the Amiga-IP has been stuck in development hell with various fly-by-night outfits. Ah well, onto Apple then. Hope they still have a few years ...
