Re: Indy R4400 200MHz 24-bit video 256MB

Bought a bunch of Indys off eBay in 2006 and only last month got around to trying out one of the two I had left. Picked up a few system upgrades and also the SCSI2SD as I'm out of good disks. What a pretty stack of Indy. Which SCSI2SD did you get? Have you given it a try? I have a few systems I wan...

Re: Indy case discolouration

Your reply certainly makes me appreciate my ancient Sparcstation clone ever so strongly. Full steel case pizza box, built like a tank and no plastic at all. They just don't make 'em like they used to... The only thing that suffered light yellowing was the manufacturer's logo sticker on the front. I'...

Re: Vintage machine features that spark your interest?

I absolutely love floppy drives so those are always a plus. Having SCSI is a plus too. Seconded. ^^^ I have a weird preference for the pizzabox form factor. Even though in most cases the respective machines are very, very low-spec by today's standards (take for instance an HP 712), I just love them...

Re: Indy case discolouration

Thanks for the pointer, vishnu! I actually tried the search yesterday, but I only searched for "retrobrite" and not for "hydrogen peroxide" thus missing the Restore your yellowed plastics? topic with zackwatt's report, who experimented on an indy. IIRC retrobright works less well...

Indy case discolouration

Hi everyone, total SGI-noob here. I've been toying with the idea of acquiring an Indy for quite a while now. The pizzabox form factor is still my favourite and I think the Indy has a very striking appearance. I prefer it to every other SGI-Model, despite being rather low-powered compared to some of ...
