Re: Selling SGI Collection
I just dropped the prices as low as I'm willing to go before putting these up on eBay. I would really like to see them go to good homes, but I need to move them so I can start remodeling my old office by the end of January.

Re: Selling SGI Collection
I'm not happy about it, but it is the right thing to do. We are apartment dwellers in the SF bay area. There are no basements, and our friends have even less space than we do. The cheapest storage locker is ~$700 / year. Plus, and this is important, my wife does not like seeing my old computers, but...

Selling SGI Collection
A year ago I finally got to start my SGI collection. I wanted many of these systems for a long time, and my wife finally gave me the go ahead. Then, a couple months ago I got some great news, with a side order of losing my workshop/office in a few months and any spare time for the next few years. Af...

Re: WTB: Octane drive sled
It isn't perfect, but I put up a 3D model on thingiverse for a sled that is currently working in both of my Octanes. It prints in three pieces. Order cheap rubber mounts from Amazon, screw on the rails, then a couple drops of superglue for the front (mount to the rails, not the drive). http://forums...

Wow, the plastics must be in really bad condition for the seller to use pictures that low quality.

If you like games, Bungie made a Oni before they were acquired by Microsoft. It was a lot of fun to play back on my G3s and G4s.

Nice collection, with lots of drive sleds. Those will come in handy.

Re: WTB: Sparcstation 10 or 20
I think I saw one, with keyboard and monitor, for sale at Weirdstuff Warehouse here in Santa Clara, CA a few week ago. It was a couple hundred USD. It might still be there.

Re: Article: The Coming Software Apocalypse
Computers had doubled in power every 18 months for the last 40 years. Why hadn’t programming changed? https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2017/09/saving-the-world-from-code/540393/ This article is a wonderful bit of sensationalism written by people who didn't really understand what they ...

Re: your latest purchase
I'd just like to know why in God's name anybody puts the Caps Lock key on these little tiny micro-keyboards. NOBODY USES CAPS LOCK. ALL IT DOES IS GET IN THE WAY. And that goes double when it's on an already-cramped keyboard, the same size as and immediately adjacent to one of the most common lette...

It went for more than I was willing to bid without more info. Hopefully somebody here got it so we will find out the specs. It looked like a fairly clean machine.

Deleting a google account definitely qualifies as "pointless." They are still going to track everything you do and associate it with whatever was on the previous account.

I think we understand, we just disagree. Also, given the lack of sales, we were probably right on this one.
