Re: SGI Drive Sled Models

There's one part that relies on itself slightly bending so as to lock in place The the little locking tooth on the handle, yeah. I think ABS should do it. Technically, I have access to some really nice 3D printers, but my company would not be happy if I used them for this, so I'm stuck with my litt...

SGI Drive Sled Models

I recently decided that my new Octane needs more drives. Surprisingly, drives are not that difficult to find. Drive sleds on the other hand... I'm certain people around here have some extra they could sell, but they don't look that hard to make. After all, I have a laser cutter and 3D printe...

Re: The Octane Hardware Aggregator

I assume we can add things in the replies? - PS/2 Mice/Keyboards: 3. Dell SK-8100 (not sure of the year, but it has Windows keys) 4. Logitech M-SBF96 (optical wheel mouse) - Monitors? ?: Teorder VGA to HDMI (B01MSTDUCH) - 1280x1024 @ 60Hz, requires proper 13w3 to VGA adapter, but every HDMI panel I ...

Re: Dodoid Mini Indigo is now on sale!

Also, to HurricaneJames, I believe 5dwm/MaXX is available only as x86 binaries due to licensing restrictions from SGI. As such, running on the Raspberry Pi or ODROID's x86 processor may not work. Oh, good point. Kronos 2.0 looks pretty nifty, I'll definitely give that a whirl when you release it. A...

Re: Safe Shutdown

This the first Silicon Graphics machine that I admin and generally remembering how painful SGI could be to the uninitiated Contradiction? Not really. The first SGI I used was an O2. I was only a user, and it was painful until I learned it. I was the programmer on the team, and coming from Visual St...

Safe Shutdown

I got my Octane running! This the first Silicon Graphics machine that I admin, so I'm not sure about a lot of things. Lack of knowledge did not deter me though. I managed to get the machine up and login. It calls itself "voodoo" and has 4 accounts: root, EZsetup, demos, and guest. I have n...

Re: Octane R10k 195MHz 128MB SI

Tests passed with nothing more than a missing keyboard error. I dropped to the command monitor to try hinv, but for some reason my serial to usb adapter stopped working. I suspect it was because Mac OSX 10.12 does not support it well. I will need to try again later with the VGA cable (Octane -> mich...

Re: Dodoid Mini Indigo is now on sale!

I got mine, but I ordered the case without a SBC. It is currently sitting on my desk at the office. Sometime, after I finish my current Octane build, I plan to install either an odroid or raspberry pi and load it up with 5dwm for a truly faux graphics experience. Though I will probably try smooth ou...

[ebay] Indigo2 Galileo Video Breakout Box [not mine]

Daily ebay surfing came up with an Indigo2 Galileo Video breakout box today. 40EUR + shipping, located in France. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/112524836157 Seller also has a Digital Media 3.0 CD. I seriously doubt I need it, but I'm having a hard time tracking down the contents of that disc. Does anybody ...

Octane R10k 195MHz 128MB SI

I finally got my the big green money pit running, kinda. I forgot my 13w3 -> VGA adapter, so I cannot test VGA, but I managed to get it up on the terminal. Diagnostics failed. [Press any key to continue.] System Maintenance Menu 1) Start System 2) Install System Software 3) Run Diagnostics 4) Recove...
