Re: Maintaining Hardware / fesability of keeping hardware running

I just popped my 4th Indigo power supply. I have been fortunate that Indigo and old Indigo hard drives (the big ones from back in the day) have been the only hardware I have had trouble with. Is the Indigo power supply difficult to recap/refurb? If you haven't seen it, I repaired one a few months a...

Re: Indigo Fresh Install Problems

I just got IRIX 6.5 to install on my R4k Indigo. I appear to have some hardware problems, but I'm gonna clean and re-seat everything in my Indigo before making a "please help me" post. I have some random lockups, but got a successful install after a few tries. I'm using the same CD-ROM dri...

Indigo power-on issues, possible dead drive

After my power supply repair ( http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16731963 ), my Indigo starting giving the TOD error. I did a CR2032 conversion, but seem to have additional issues. I get a dead screen about 50% of the time but I think I just need to pull everything and thoroughly cl...

Re: Indigo R4000 power supply repair PEC4044B 6064459

Upon turning the switch off, the power supply exhibited a high-pitched whine for about 10 seconds. After you have repaired the PSU, is that "high-pitched whine" sound after turning the switch off gone now? Upon turning the switch off, I hear a "squeek" about 1/4 second long, tha...

Re: BeBox on eBay... get it while you can!

A starting price of 603.66 - now, that's an insider, isn't it? ;-) I made the opening bid on that one, $804.86. :D Then I lost the auction by $25. I also bid on, and lost this auction. I got a bit insane at the end: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Very-rare-BeBox-BeOS-computer-early-s-n-maybe-prototype-/18...

Re: Indigo R4000 power supply repair PEC4044B 6064459

Excellent work. I'll put it in the Wiki tonight. UPDATE: Done, it's added here Please check if i have copied everything correctly. It looks OK, just might want to clarify that the temperature ratings are for the replacements I chose, as I tried to stick with 105°C rated components. The originals we...

Re: Indigo R4000 power supply repair PEC4044B 6064459

The dimensions given were measured from the original parts, so they may vary slightly from manufacturer specs. Any major differences are noted. The MFR and P/Ns listed are replacements I picked. I like Nichicon, so that's what I went with. I'm sure it would be pretty easy to use something like Mouse...

Indigo R4000 power supply repair PEC4044B 6064459

A few days ago, I bought an Indigo CMNB003B from someone through Craigslist. He said it powered on and plays the chime. We met and he attempted to demonstrate, but the Indigo would not power on. He said it worked earlier in the same day, so that was probably the power supply's last hurrah. Upon turn...
