Re: Octane III on eBay

I always thought po-dunk Rackable buying prestigious SGI was kinda funny. HPE makes sense. They actually manufacture their own stuff. But I digress and that's another forum topic.

Occupy White Walls

I came across this and it looks kinda cool. Sadly it's Windows only, but it lets you live out your 90s computer graphics demo fantasies. Kinda reminds me of "Into the Mind's Eye"

Re: Octane III on eBay

It's a rackable era system. It's when Rackable changed their name to SGI and wanted to capitalize on the SGI brand

Re: Octane III on eBay

It's a glorified cluster is what they are. I've come across a few of 'em when I worked at Linux Netwox. Not really all that interesting other than they had an available model that used Atom chips. That caused alot of *gasps* in the HPC world.

NIS and NFS Automount

I've given up on my experimental Kerberos setup and went back to my tried and true NIS setup. If it ain't broke. But I'm trying to get my SGIs to Automount their home directories. Automount acts like it mounts them, but nothing shows up in /home. It works fine in linux though. Here's my auto.master ...

Re: Octane + LDAP + Kerberos = ?

I've just decided to try and build my authentication/authorization stack from source. Porting is easier than hacking and duct tape. My setup is _somewhat_ typical of what you find in academia. I have a KRB server which clients authenticate to. Using SASL, is uses ticket information to bind to LDAP a...

Re: Octane + LDAP + Kerberos = ?

Right.I discovered that, so I have xdm running (I'm trying to figure out how to prettify it though).

Well, my first problem is SGI's LDAP doesn't have SASL compiled in. Authentication to the LDAP server is via Kerberos tickets. Can I replace SGI's OpenLDAP?

Octane + LDAP + Kerberos = ?

Hi all: I'm wanting to retire my clunky NIS server and migrate my SGIs to my LDAP+Kerberos setup I have, so I can use AFS and it's less of a pain in my butt, but I'm not finding alot of documentation on how to set that up for IRIX. Its pretty straight forward for Linux and *BSD. Are there any suppor...

I'm in the market for a new switch, and if I could get a Cisco that would make me happy if the price is right.

I know :( I'm sorry. But he was PMing me constantly asking these stupid questions. It's annoying and invasive >:( When I happily think it's one of y'all.
