Re: Help installing an old Netscape version

Hmm, well that's more than I'm getting so I guess a re-install is on the cards this weekend...

Thanks for trying it for me!

Help installing an old Netscape version

Hi! I need to run Netscape 2 on my Indy (long story as to why) and I came across this site with old versions for our beloved Irix: http://home.mcom.com/archives/ I downloaded 2.01, 2.02 and 3.04 and un-tar-gzipped them and I get left with a few files including an unhelpful README, an executable name...

Re: How to play Audio CD's on an Indy ?

I tried a real CD in it but it didn't work either. I looked at that link and have a 305s drive on the way from eBay, we'll see if that works with audio over SCSI. I had never expected audio over SCSI but that the SGI app would have just sent a play command to the drive for it to playback and decide ...

Re: How to play Audio CD's on an Indy ?

They were ripped to mp3, using iTunes on a Mac. I burnt them back as Audio CD format using Toast Titanium 15 on a Mac. The CD plays in an old real Cd player I have, plus on said Mac and a PC. I seriously doubt the burnt CD is at fault, although it's a (weak) possibility the Apple 600e SCSI CD drive ...

Re: How to play Audio CD's on an Indy ?

I don't own any real CD's any more, I ripped them all then binned them before moving internationally...
I'll grab something from a thrift store tomorrow...

Re: How to play Audio CD's on an Indy ?

chkconfig -s reports mediad as being on.

autofs and automount aren't mentioned.

If I try and do chkconfig on for either of them it doesn't let me as it doesn't know about them?

How to play Audio CD's on an Indy ?

I have an R4400-150SC Indy running 6.5.22 and I have two external SCSI CD-ROM drives I can use: 1. Apple 600e which has stereo RCA jacks on the back. This would be my preferred choice. 2. An old TEAC in an external 4 bay enclosure so no audio jacks. I used the TEAC to boot from CD do the install of ...

Re: Lazy Game Reviews Featured An Indigo2

I've been a subscriber to his channel for a long time and couldn't believ it when I switched on the TV tgis morning and saw he was reviewing an SGI machine mere days after I decide to buy my first one! Given his channel content I never thought I'd see an SGI on there but I guess every true computer ...

WTB: Silicon Graphics CRT monitor

I'm after a perfectly working silicon graphics CRT monitor.
Must be in cosmetically top condition also.
Needs to include 13W3 cable.

I'm in NYC, USA.

Re: WTB: V. Nice condition Indy - R4400/5000 128MB+

I've managed to find one elsewhere that ticks most of the boxes at a fair price.

I'll leave this ad up in case I'm not happy with the condition of the one I've found or something really nicely specced comes along in top condition...

Re: WTB: V. Nice condition Indy - R4400/5000 128MB+

Hmmm....

Wrong processor and not enough ram in addition to the wrong graphics.

Not sure why the shipping cost estimate is so high unless the monitor is included as well (I'd love an SGI CRT if I could find one) but it's not in the listing...

Thanks for the heads up though!

WTB: V. Nice condition Indy - R4400/5000 128MB+

As per the title, and am looking for an Indy, ideally including graphite keyboard and mouse and perhaps a granite CRT. It all needs to be in very clean condition as I'll be writing many articles that will include photos of it and it will also feature in YouTube videos. Obviously scratches on that pa...
