Re: ADAT. And the secret is...

Good shout on the ADA8000, I got one of these working with the Octane no problem and they are nice and cheap.

Re: Workstation for virtualization of OpenCL workload ?

KVM outperforms Xen in many respects these days and can do PCIe passthrough.

Would you steal it or let it be trashed?

Re: getting back into the "octane swing"

How is the Adderlink? Would you be able to render graphics well over that or would it feel more like a remote desktop session? It's great, there is no discernible loss in quality and it's silky smooth. For all intents and purposes its a local console. It's not IP based, just using the CAT5 cable. I...

creating a mirror

I am stuck behind a http proxy (plus no ftp proxying) and getting tired of downloading tardists from the index page  I want to create a mirror, but figured this is the best place to ask as a courtesy if that is okay, since I guess it will use some bandwidth. Mostly for my own gain, but I will o...

getting back into the "octane swing"

I picked up a couple of Octanes last year but never really had much time to get going with them. I drove them half way across the country strapped into the back of the car and thankfully didn't need the booster seats  Since then I also picked up a Discreet Octane 2 with loads of goodies and ver...

Re: Kernel Fault on SGI Octane

I get the same on boot up with an MXI board :( The dump confirms a fault occurs in Xsgi. I think I ran 'chkconfig savecore on' to enable that. Boots fine with a different graphics board... https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/5124298/30296723-0c81b5a4-973d-11e7-9277-1188a81014b6.png

Re: hello

Just taken an Octane from Huddersfield to Oxfotdshire, so good to hear there are some more in town! I still have a Fuel and I2 - did the 6.5.22 upgrade on the latter, ftp-ing the tardists from a linux box. Welcome to nekochan btw, I've found members here really helpful. small world! Re: hello

Thanks everyone. I think I will try to put together another 13w3 adapter and make a dual head system, compression connector anxiety or no compression connector anxiety.

Haha car seats! I need the biggest car seat you have....

hello

Hi everyone just picked up my first SGI, an Octane :Octane: from ebay here in the UK and wanted to register and say hello. It's a 2x 225mhz r10k with 512mb memory and esi graphics. Nothing special I guess but unmolested nonetheless, running great but took me a while to get the 6.5.22 overlay install...
