Re: Cryptocurrency?

I really despise these people who act like they're so superior because they hitched themselves to a currency that could completely collapse tomorrow. And it's especially hilarious when they try to say that poor people could bootstrap their way out of poverty with Bitcoin, a currency which requires l...

It's corroded on the RF so I removed the RF shielding completely, scrubbed the board down with a mix of Barkeeper's friend, Windex, and then rinsed it with water several times, and followed...

Re: What Apple hardware do we have?

I didn't consider that possibility.

Mine is the last of the PCI-X G5s from 2005.

Re: What Apple hardware do we have?

@irinikus: What an unusual G5! My dual processor G5 has different processor covers than yours and the dual-core G5s usually have a one piece cover, so perhaps you have the legendary G5 Quad!

Re: Your most prized hardware

I don't have anything exceptionally valuable but I do love my SGI systems, my Mac Quadra 950, and my "Color Classic II" (Color Classic with a Performa 550 board).

Re: your latest purchase

Yeah, I wanted to choose something off the beaten path. Lots of people use Dells and HPs but you don't see people rebuild an eMachines.

It's gonna be a while but this thing will eventually get a nice IVB Core i5 setup with a little GPU.

Oh wow, that one I didn't even know about! I guess that means every major commercial RISC platform of the mid 90s got a laptop except MIPS...

Re: C64 Reloaded

It's essentially a brand new enhanced C64 though...

Even at the 1985 price of $149, a brand new C64 cost $341.57 in 2017 dollars.

Re: C64 Reloaded

I recycled a dead breadbin C64 a few months ago! If I had known about this I'd have kept it, darn!
