Re: your latest purchase

A Power Macintosh G3 desktop. Fully loaded but currently not working (at least, that's what the eBay seller says, I don't have it yet).

If I can get it up and running it will be the perfect machine for making old Mac floppies!

Re: What pointless thing are you doing right now?

Looking at SCSI CD-ROM drives on eBay. Dunno why I'm bothering. Me too, the nightmarishly slow and ancient Teac on my Octane2 finally crapped out. I consider this an opportunity for advancement... ;) It's less that and more that finding what I actually need is so difficult to find (especially for a...

Re: your latest purchase

Very nice! I don't have a Plus (wish I did) but I do have a 512k with a nifty 68020 accelerator board and 4MB of RAM onboard as well as Plus ROMs and an 800k floppy drive. It's a really cool machine but no hard disk and only being able to use up to System 6.0.8 is a bit of a bummer. At least it work...

Re: your latest purchase

The last Trinitron I found was free but turned out to not work, what a shame...usually when free TVs pop up they're cheapo garbage.

Re: your latest purchase

Nice! PC-98 keyboards are all interchangeable, my Cx2 has a later keyboard that works just fine.

Re: your latest purchase

It's some kind of proprietary. Turns out it will run but with extra stress on the PSU. Since these PSUs are apparently infamous for failing I'll just wait until I can buy a transformer.

Re: your latest purchase

The info label on the side says "50Hz/60Hz" so the PSU must be able to handle both but I'm not sure if it would handle 20% more voltage.

Re: your latest purchase

I can get one off Amazon too but I don't have the spare cash right now, not after spending what I spent to ship the thing and its keyboard from Japan!

Re: your latest purchase

I haven't plugged it in yet because even though I was told it should be fine, I'm super nervous about blowing the PSU on a computer I had to have shipped from Japan as I have no step-down transformer...

Re: your latest purchase

Got the PC-9821 all cleaned up and it looks great! A pity about the holes in the top for space-saver brackets but eh, what can you do.

Re: your latest purchase

Hmm. Well this is from 1994 so I guess it would be fine. It will be fun in a few days to fire the thing up and see if it already has DOS installed or if I'll have to do it myself.
