Re: What extremely rare (non-prototype) computers do you wish you could find?

I probably am!

Honestly I don't know why Apple bothered with their own Unix...

And then you have the Workgroup Servers, which some of which were PPC and ran...I dunno what. Just Mac OS I guess?

Re: What extremely rare (non-prototype) computers do you wish you could find?

Thanks to 68kMLA I am somewhat familiar with the ANS, though I had no idea they could run AIX in addition to A/UX.

I saw that but man, the shipping cost makes it not worthwhile. Guess I'll have to wait longer...

Re: What extremely rare (non-prototype) computers do you wish you could find?

Don't feel bad. I actually destroyed a WGS 9150 I got from a friend many years ago for parts. In my defense it wasn't working and this was when they weren't as rare as they are now. As penance I will keep the one I do have running forthwith. :P Oooh, do you have any pictures? What OS do you run on ...

Re: What extremely rare (non-prototype) computers do you wish you could find?

I almost forgot another rare machine-the Mac Color Classic II.

Sure you can build a CCII yourself by putting a LC/Performa 550 motherboard in a CC, but the actual factory CCII isn't easy to find, even in the countries where it was actually sold.

Re: What extremely rare (non-prototype) computers do you wish you could find?

SX64s and Kaypros are probably the most common of those non-x86 luggables.

A rare machine I'd like to find is an Apple Workgroup Server 9150. Modified Quadra 950 case with a PPC heart, and since there's no PM9100 equivalent it's the only way to get that case design.

Re: No graphics out from Indigo2

I think for right now I'm just going to focus on replacing the graphics board.

I did notice at least one of the two boards is warped, I don't know if that would cause it to not work but it certainly could.

Re: No graphics out from Indigo2

It's a Seagate Hawk model ST31200N. All I have on the side is a small L-shaped ribbon cable that connects between a six-pin header on the drive and a rectangular black connector wired to the drive sled.

Re: WTB-Indigo2 Stuff

I actually purchased the sleds I need from another Nekochan member and a CD drive off eBay that I'm hoping will work, but I'll keep you in mind if the CD drive isn't good!

Re: No graphics out from Indigo2

There actually are no jumpers on the hard disk, I checked. It's just Molex and SCSI 50 pin. I took some pictures of the video board I removed from the machine in hopes that someone can help me identify it. I'm pretty sure it's a XZ or Newport board. I'm obviously going to need either this or whateve...

Re: WTB-Indigo2 Stuff

Oh I don't plan on throwing away any old proprietary PSUs I have to replace.

Though honestly I'd rather get one I have rebuilt (I just don't have the inclination for that sort of thing) than buy another one.

A Macintosh Color Classic and an old 486 Toshiba laptop. Can't wait for them to get here.
