[ebay][uk] R4K Indigo2 (teal) - looks like new (not mine)

There's currently an R4K Indigo² in teal skins available on Ebay UK from Newport Pagnell, starting a 100 GBP:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SGI-Indigo-2-with-GR2-graphics-in-teal/122708634852

Judging from the first four pictures I'd say it looks like new, but see for yourself.

That could also work well and would make it easier to overlap the beam angle of the LEDs.

Re: Octane: 2xR12k 300MHz, 2048MB, MXE

It is possible to see two distinct light sources when viewed exactly from the front, but within 15 degrees or so they combine into a single solid white bar. Thanks for the frontal picture, I think it still looks great. Maybe when you bend the LEDs a little closer to each other, but then the rest of...

Re: Octane: 2xR12k 300MHz, 2048MB, MXE

The LEDs came out amazing. They look bright white in the photo, but they are a much softer white in real life. In person they look exactly the way I remember the originals. Looks great on the picture above. I made a similar modification to the light bars of my two Octanes end of 2016 but used only ...

Where do you put that fscking thing? It's bigger than the woman in the pic!!

You put a pillow on it and use it as a stool.

I might be wrong, but wasn't the machine in the 800 - 900 EUR range, when Hombre71 first posted the link? Now it's at 970 EUR. Or was it orginally without buy-it-now option? :?

[ebay][de] 2 x Octane (not mine)

There are two Octane's available on Ebay Germany, located in Berlin, no shipping, for 180 EUR each or offer: http://www.ebay.de/itm/sgi-silicon-graphics-octane-workstation-jh/263193173297 The pictured configuration - I don't know if it's identical for both items, though - includes: ⋅  late...

Re: Hot-rodding my G5 - storage performance

http://www.sonnettech.com/product/tempossd.html I like their products. And they won't be disposable if one day you decommission your G5, because they work with (and are even bootable) with PCs. Do you also plan to test the read/write performance of two M.2 SSDs in PCIe adapters in your G5? :D All P...

Re: Irix netinstall

edit: this was just a simple case of sysctl -w net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range="2048 32767". Good catch. Best is to make it permanent in a file in /etc/sysctl.d/ or a line in /etc/sysctl.conf : root@nfs:~# cat /etc/sysctl.d/99-sgi-indy.conf # The firmware of the SGI Indy can only access TCP ...

Re: Irix netinstall

When I use the bootp command, it hangs for a long time then just says something like unable to execute, leading me to believe it can’t reach it/get the file. I assume you're case is one out of 1 to 4 below. And it looks like you indeed need a DHCP/BOOTP server available that answers the IP address ...
