Re: No SSH banner when using PUTTY

Hello, I found another peculiar issue with SSH logins... I'm permitted to log into my SGI via SSH as root even though my /etc/openssh/sshd_config shows "PermitRootLogin no" and my /etc/default/login shows "CONSOLE=/dev/console". Does the Irix default version of SSH not use the /e...

Re: No SSH banner when using PUTTY

So, I named my SGI system Picard and my Sun Ultra 5 system Kirk. Both good ships with good captains. For sure, there are worse choices: Janeway, Sisko, and Archer!

No SSH banner when using PUTTY

Hello, When I SSH from my Windows 10 system to my Irix 6.5.22 system using Putty (v0.67), I am not initially presented with a login banner. Instead, I'm asked for my username; after which, the login banner is presented (between the username and password prompts). This is the exact same behavior usin...

Re: Indigo 2 GU1-Extreme vs. Solid Impact?

To be honest, I'm not planning on doing much graphically with the systems; maybe play BZFlag or Doom for fun. Does anyone remember the command to bring up the CPU, video, and memory utilization bar chart? It's been forever since I've sat at an SGI.

Thanks!

Re: WTB Working O2

Hello,

I ended up getting two working Indigo 2 systems for free. I've already put a fresh copy of 6.5.22 on them and they're running great.

Thanks!

Indigo 2 GU1-Extreme vs. Solid Impact?

Hello, I just got my hands on two Indigo 2 computers. One has an R10k@195Mhz w/Solid Impact graphics and the other has an R4400@250Mhz w/GU1-Extreme graphics (both in purple cases). Which graphics card is better? I've found several websites that describe what the two cards are, various graphics opti...

WTB Working O2

Hello, I'm hoping to pickup a working SGI O2. I live in Colorado Springs, CO and would be willing to pick one up in person or pay for shipping. I worked for SGI as a System Support Engineer in Maryland from 2004 through 2006. When I left SGI, I sold off or gave all of my equipment away (O2, Indigo, ...
