Re: Timezone settings do not persist after rebooting

I could be wrong but I think you also need to have the correct timezone settings in your PROM. Start your O2, press escape to go to the PROM and select Command Monitor. Type "printenv" and see if the TZ value matches where you live. If not, you'll have to change it using the "setenv&q...

Re: My Fuel now has a power supply and Dallas chip, but no graphics yet. Can I connect to it over serial?

Looks like a graphics card is required for Fuel to work: Even if the main CPU won't power on, will the L1 come up without a graphics card? That, I can't say. For some reason I wanted to try it headless. Fuel was running fine, I took out the graphics card, it was dead as a doornail. Put the graphics ...

Re: What do you use your Fuel for?

I lusted for a Fuel when I got into SGI's a few years ago and eventually got one. I tried to use it as a daily driver like other members here could but sadly the Fuel's wow factor wore off only after a couple months. It was loud, hot, used a lot of power, and very limited. So now I just turn it on t...

Re: SGI Fuel Owners Manual

The Silicon Graphics Fuel Visual Workstation Hardware User's Guide *is* the owner's guide for the Fuel. The title is just worded differently unlike other owner's guides from SGI (ex: OCTANE2 Workstation Owner's Guide)

What graphics card are you using? Solaris 10 x86 plays a lot nicer with Nvidia cards, especially those that were available for the Sun Ultra 20/24/27 models.

Re: Trade Fuel for maxed out O2 setup

Shameless bump.

Thanks for the offer commodore john, but I'm pretty hard set on finding the best possible O2 out there. And I'm only willing to give up my Fuel for it :)

Trade Fuel for maxed out O2 setup

Have: Fuel / 600 R14K, 1 GB RAM, V10, FireWire, M-Audio Want: O2 / 400 R12K, 1 GB RAM, AV capture, O2 camera A 1600SW flat panel would be icing on the cake but not a deal breaker if there isn’t one. And there’s nothing wrong with the Fuel. I just prefer a smaller and less power hungry, but still cap...
