Re: Looking for good software For PPC macs

http://www.morphos.de/ It's an AmigaOS clone which will only run on certain models of ppc mac, including ibook g4. It should be extremely snappy, there's a trial ISO on the site but it is a paid-license OS unfortunately. There's a sizeable amount of ported software and it will run any older amiga so...

Re: SSL deactivated in Seamonkey 1.1-12 VMS

I set up a test account to see if it was actually a system issue and it doesn't throw the errors. Not really sure how that happens, but I'll chalk it up to some gremlins I guess and just use the new one with operator privileges

Re: SSL deactivated in Seamonkey 1.1-12 VMS

I've also noticed this error message in the terminal window that starts CSWB: LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library /sys$common/cswb/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so [OpenVMS status is decimal 540

Would reinstalling CSWB potentially fix these issues?

Re: SSL deactivated in Seamonkey 1.1-12 VMS

Right, but is that because SSL3 got turned off, or because the library isn't loading? It may not be possible to tell from the client. However, I *think* that version should have TLS 1.0 capability. I'm not sure from the client, because of these two messages: Could not initialize the browser's secur...

Re: How can Apple reclaim its dominance over PC-based workstations?

. Also, given the lack of sales, we were probably right on this one. I think that, perhaps, solidifies my point; Apple is not moved by sales, but rather margins. If the new mac pros have lower sales, but the profit margins generate more profit, that's the lesson that Apple gets out of the exercise....

SSL deactivated in Seamonkey 1.1-12 VMS

Anyone run into this issue before? SSL won't work at all on the VMS build of Seamonkey, libssl3.so is in the folder and nothing is deactivated in preferences. Is the library just considered too out of date or should I reinstall the CSWB package? Do I need the SSL1 packages installed (hadn't gotten t...

These will all be under Tru64 presumably? Depending on your system config, you could give oolite a try: http://www.oolite.org/

Re: Alphaserver DS15

Well, after spending most of the last week banging my head against the gentoo wall, where between the horribly unclear install guide and the apparent inability for the thing to both format a simple working file system AND build a kernel without inexplicably ****ting the bed, I'm going to do a fresh ...

Re: Digital Unix Alpha Software Product Library - download now!

No need to a get a cdr recorder! I built the iso images with Joliet and Rock Ridge support so the images can be directly mounted by a Windows 10 machine. Simply using readily available software you can tar and gzip a directory of interest to you and the ftp the result to your tru64 machine. that's ...

Re: looking for C++ compiler version 6.5 or 7.1

nobody has any problem with sharing any software for VMS or Tru64/DUnix, because you still need a license for it and tbh it's much easier to run a free version of BSD or linux on any of the old hardware, unless you're a real hardcore retrocomputing enthusiast. the type equivalent to the idiots who w...

Re: looking for C++ compiler version 6.5 or 7.1

Any CD burning program on any operating system should be capable of creating an ISO image, brasero on linux is what I use if i need it. Nero was what i used when I still had a windows-based computer with an optical drive. (Kept the optical drive on the linux machine because I have a version of Civ:C...

Re: looking for C++ compiler version 6.5 or 7.1

oh my god if you have that set... i know we can't talk about sharing anything here, but just to have some of that old dead abandonware available there are places online that would be happy to host it. when it comes to the newer compilers, have you checked any of the various sites now hosting ISOs of...

Re: looking for C++ compiler version 6.5 or 7.1

There's a version of GCC for Tru-64 but it is woefully out of date and hasn't been maintained for years. I think a newer version of this was cobbled together and is actually in a repository on nekochan but I can't find it immediately so check this for some readymade 3.4.6 binaries: http://wickensonl...
