Re: Let's check your depth buffer precision!

I am currently "obtaining" Maya 6.5 for IRIX. Will try it on my Onyx with RealityEngine2 graphics and my Octane with SE the day after tomorrow, when I get home. I have no clue how to use Maya, so I may have to learn a bit before I can follow your instructions, but I will try my best.

I could if I wanted to get an R8000 board for my new Onyx. Not sure if that requires changing other boards. Expensive, but ehh, maybe.

Re: Gone.. tired..

I have been pondering ways to ban users which would be resistant to creation of new accounts and usage of different IP addresses. Prose analysis/stylometry comes to mind. Tor Browser can route your traffic through an exit node, prevent JS, genericize user agent and plugin availability, etc, but ther...

Re: SGI Drive Sled Models

Hmm, I too have a printer and some sleds, no 3D models unfortunately. They're kind of complicated but I think doable, if you made them in a few pieces for overhang reasons (you may also have access to non-FDM printers). There's one part that relies on itself slightly bending so as to lock in place, ...

If you haven't been here in a while (it looks like you haven't been too active since 2013), this might surprise you:
The only MIPS SGI workstation released during my lifetime was the Tezro.

Re: Dodoid Mini Indigo is now on sale!

Nice! I like the idea of case modding the Mini Indigo, even better if it runs Kronos :) . Be careful while sanding the back of the unit, there's one piece (the middle strip, between the two SBC cutouts) which is only strong when the top piece is on, otherwise it's flimsy and tends to snap.

Extremely interested. I'm in Ottawa and am looking for desksides.
Are both of these capable of running on normal 120v power?

Re: Dodoid Mini Indigo is now on sale!

Hi all! Yeah, a few people's units have arrived, including I think all of those who's ODROIDs were in the earlier batch, so it's moving along, albeit slowly. JohnnyJohnny and opcode's units should be shipping soon. Got the second batch of ODROIDs recently but my family has been extremely busy, makin...

Kronos 2.0 with IRENKA

Work is still underway. Public downloads (version 2.0-GDR4P) likely available around early September. Under the hood APIs, an installer, and some storage stuff are where I have spent most of my time. There are some screenshot-worthy improvements though. Seen here: desktop icons (yes, they turn yello...

Re: SGI Indy YouTube Video - Silicon Classics #7

Nice job and excellent information! I like the historical footage, I should use more of that in my system showcase videos. Between your excellent Indy video and the LGR's excellent Indigo2 review, I'm kind of glad that so far I've done the Octane and O2 :) .

Re: Talos Secure Workstation

Extremely tempting product, would probably go with the 2 CPU bundle and add in the rest of the parts. I very much like the 100% free software aspect of it, though even at it's current (very good) price, the price of any high-end computing hardware can be hard to stomach. The CPUs are surprisingly ch...
