Re: Introducing D1

Going to order some D1 prototype boards soon, probably tomorrow. One chip (to be named later) is particularly large, a QFP-144, and I have determined that I can silkscreen the entire lyrics to the Octane Swing underneath it. octane.png Should I :D ? Song here, in case you haven't heard it in a while...

Not public yet, sorry. You'll be able to figure it out once I post the first prototype board shots if you're familiar with O2 add-ons (may be a little while, as I am waiting on a particular chip from China).

Re: Looking for O2 R5000

What are the exact dimensions of the plastic O2 "sleeve" (the blue piece in the middle that isn't the black "foot" or "cap")? I found some rough O2 dimensions, but I have no idea if they're accurate and they are for the whole machine, not the plastic piece.

Re: What Indy addon card is this?

Well, you know, they also note that it is "in teal/aquamarine/turquoise" (you know, unlike all those bright red Indys), and that it "TURNS ON!!!!".

Re: Looking for O2 R5000

I have an R12K/400 (two, actually, though one is in pieces) O2, but I do plan to swap an R5K system board into one (not sure how much of a bodge-job this is, but I have one or two R5K system modules sitting around with no case, so I hope I can just put one of them in) of them to verify the D1 before...

Re: Looking for O2 R5000

The markings for the ports could probably not be done all that well (I would give it a go, but they might come out unrecognizable). I would say the bigger problem would be the general shape. AFAIK (and I haven't had a ton of time to look at this yet), the best way would be to have it print upside-do...

Re: Looking for O2 R5000

I would be concerned that the O2 demo models would be far too low-poly to make for a good 3D print. Textured and rendered in a window at 1280x1024 on a CRT, they might look fine, but scaled up to the size of an O2, I think you may very quickly find them to have fewer polygons than you think. I do ha...

Re: Looking for O2 R5000

I have been looking into 3D printing O2 skins. My printer is not large enough, but there is one I am interested in that is. It's a difficult shape to print, due to supports, and I suspect the final finish would be significantly more glossy than the original SGI (probably either sanded Ethyl Acetate-...

Re: SGI Fuel with Ryzen 5 2400G?

Gave Greenlink VNC into the guest X display my O2 that I run 24/7. We played around with IRIX for a while (with me viewing his screen), and talked SGIs some more. He says thanks for getting him hooked on SGI systems and letting him try IRIX :)

Re: SGI Fuel with Ryzen 5 2400G?

Well, you raise an interesting point. Of course, people CAN. I am certainly not arguing that gutting an SGI should be illegal or anything. That said, I think it is a waste of a system, especially given that, while PC cases are manufactured today in large numbers, SGIs (and especially CPOP-based syst...

Re: TEZRO WANTED please

Not quiet but very tolerable. A somewhat mechanical humming noise, for as long as it doesn't go into 'fastfan' mode at least. There is also the OLS, which is almost as loud, but equally low. The Onyx makes a lot of noise, but I don't find it that bad. I find the Onyx actually less annoying than a l...

I have a dead fuel with a decent case. No way am I selling it to a case modder. SGIs should stay SGIs.

I have never had good luck with Internet Archive images, even for non-bootable discs. Try the ones from WinWorld.

Re: Getting irix onto indigo2 r10k

Okay, that link is the Installation Tools disc. Do you have the others? An IRIX 6.5.22 or 6.5.30 installation consists of two Foundation discs, three Overlay discs, and some semi-optional bits like an Applications disc and an NFS disc. The standalone Installation Tools disc was discontinued during t...
