Re: I'm making my own form of BSD

Understandable, but a shame. I wanted to see Kronos with IRENKA running on it for the full "Nekochan Operating System".

Nice! Glad you finally got an Octane. A lot of the Nekoware package managers have some problems related to servers going down, but ehh, it works if you point it at the main Nekochan packages. It's slow though.

Re: Interesting video - code injection on unmodified SNES

Less immediately impressive, but interesting all the same. This guy beats Mario 64 levels pressing the A button as few times as possible, which involves some crazy stuff, such as an integer overflow in collision detection, walking on a slope for 12 hours after turning around to build up ridiculous s...

Re: Onyx Problems, seemingly power related

Alright, so I changed the VCAM board out for a spare, and it has the same problem. Perhaps both boards are faulty, or perhaps it's something else.

Re: Onyx Problems, seemingly power related

Dug through some of the (individually static bagged and bubble wrapped) spares I got with the Onyx and O2K. Besides learning that I have multiple Onyx CPU boards, a whole box of NUMAlink router boards, like 2 or 3 Origin2000/Onyx2 MSCs, a few more power supplies, a box of IO6s, some miscellaneous Oc...

Re: Onyx Problems, seemingly power related

I read those sections. The real time voltage display doesn't show anything too out of spec, until it runs for a while (again, this varies). Then, I get the message I described before.

Code: Select all

-5.2VDC OVER VOLTAGE
99:99:54  :0 ??? 99

Screenshot is from Maya 6.5, IRIX 6.5.30, Octane with SE graphics. Appears to be z-fighting. I don't know how to zoom, so I can't tell if it still does when I go closer or farther. Haven't been able to test on my Onyx yet, it's -12VDC power is acting up.

Re: Onyx Problems, seemingly power related

Disregard previous post, the board wasn't in right. So now we have the "-5.2VDC OVER VOLTAGE" and "-12VDC OVER VOLTAGE" again. No blown caps visible. Should I check the power bricks on the rear of the backplane?

Re: Onyx Problems, seemingly power related

Took the board out, nothing looked wrong, so I put it back together. Now I get "-12VDC UNDER VOLTAGE" and it happens much faster. So, opposite problem, I guess? Or maybe it's not connected right?

Re: Onyx Problems, seemingly power related

No, I have not changed any capacitors. For the Onyx, would the ones in question be in the big power supply thing that slides out of the back with three screws, or on one of the little power daughter boards behind the rear panel?

Onyx Problems, seemingly power related

So, my new Onyx has ran a total of 1 time so far. The first time I booted it, it said "-12VDC OVER VOLTAGE" and shut down, so I had to run it again. That time, it worked. I used it for 15 minutes or so, and then shut it down. Now, a few days later, I'm trying to run it again, but every tim...

Re: Let's check your depth buffer precision!

My O2 isn't working right now, but it would also be interesting to see this done on CRM as well as perhaps the VW320/540's Cobalt. Does anyone have Maya 6.5 on their VW or O2?

Re: Let's check your depth buffer precision!

I am currently "obtaining" Maya 6.5 for IRIX. Will try it on my Onyx with RealityEngine2 graphics and my Octane with SE the day after tomorrow, when I get home. I have no clue how to use Maya, so I may have to learn a bit before I can follow your instructions, but I will try my best.

I could if I wanted to get an R8000 board for my new Onyx. Not sure if that requires changing other boards. Expensive, but ehh, maybe.
