Re: doomed - use! HTTPS Everywhere - google explained why

What do you think the embeddable like button is for? Haven't seen them in years. What do you think adblockers are for? ;) Well, I suspect most of us here are running adblockers. I run UBO, in addition to Privacy Badger, Disconnect, and Decentraleyes, plus some browser tweaks and usually Waterfox, b...

They then proceeded to run off any and every non-commercial use they could. They've been very effective at that. The fact that we are all currently on the world-wide-web, chatting about the world-wide-web for no financial gain of our own, on a site with no advertisements, run by donations to the op...

Re: doomed - use! HTTPS Everywhere - google explained why

HTTPS also comes in handy in places where you are connected over an open wireless network. While, of course, the best option here is a secure wireless network, it is far too frequent for WiFi networks to be left open in public places just because giving everyone a password is too much of a hassle. W...

... authenticate through Facebook That's satire, right ? Nope, Facebook logins on third party sites are quite common (though usually there's a way to sign up without one as well). See https://developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-login . I do see where shutitalldown is coming from with his "tw...

Re: your latest purchase

I mean, I don't think it's right to send a different board revision, but if it's still a 300mhz board with the same specs, I wouldn't be too worried. Chances are he has a couple of 300mhz boards in stock, and has a photo of one of them that he uses whenever he sells one. The differences you have des...

Re: Maintaining Hardware / fesability of keeping hardware running

I've heard the same with regards to an Onyx rack that nobody wanted to move, though I do like the idea of a RUNNING system being left in a wall somewhere.

Re: Announcing The IRIX Network

You know what? We said we wanted *evolution*, and the internet v1.0 was a great big hit. We have all worked to create the internet v1.1 and believed it was a good step ahead for the human race, and now we are supposed to thanks a few assholes for bringing this dream to a bitter end. The internet v2...

Well, if we're going to group buy, I can't decide whether I REALLY want, or REALLY do not want the Virtu... On the one hand, rare SGI. On the other, common BoXX :) .

sgistuff.net is broken, so here's my workaround.

As anyone who has checked sgistuff.net in the past few days has found out, the site doesn't work anymore. Rather than loading the page, your browser will try to download it instead. This is because the site sends the wrong content-type in its response, sending application/x-httpd-php instead of text...

Re: Announcing IRIX.pw

I understand that there is a legal reality to allowing software sales, one which Nekochan has been hit by in the past, and I think Raion-Fox is very brave (perhaps too brave) to do so. If I had a forum like this (I don't plan to open one, but if I did), I would not allow software sales. I just think...

Re: Announcing IRIX.pw

Okay, I think both sites are awesome, and I have an account on both, but is it not a little premature to go from "This is NOT intended to replace or supplant Nekochan" to "The IRIX Network aims to be the premiere SGI community"? Like, HTTPS and software sales are cool things that...

Re: Homebrewed 128Mb SGI O2 RAM

Very interesting. IIRC, my "good O2" has 512MB across four sticks. It used to have more, then some died, so I took the other four out. Would be nice to complete it with 1GB.
