Re: Octane in UK

I went from a ZX Spectrum 48K/128K machine to PC, then to the PS1 and then back to PC and have stayed with PC ever since. (For gaming, that is.) I still have my first "real" computer being my 486DX4 100MHz. The first game that I played on this machine was Shadowcaster and I was in heaven a...

Re: What Apple hardware do we have?

I agree with what you've said. All I expect form Apple is that they have full support for a system like the Mac Pro for at least 5 years. By the time they release the next machine, I will have got 5 years of good service from this one, so I'm happy in this regard. I just hope that the next machine w...

Re: $4k LOT of SGI. Florida, USA, Tezro, Onyx, Octanes. [Ebay] Not Mine

That's a fully fledged Flame system, expensive, but worth it if you consider the cost of shipping (you save allot on combined shipping, as it's all in one place) My new Tezro node board has cost me allot of money to be shipped me from the US, but it's worth it, as it's not every day that a quad 1GHz...

I think he means 8GB, judging by the hinv that he posted.

Come on guys, there's no need for this, this is meant to be a place where people who share a common interest, being SGI machines, for what ever reason suits them, can come together interact civilly.

Re: Tezro V12 2xR16K 800MHz 5GB

uunix has wanted a Tezro for a long time and he was lucky enough to get a great deal on his Tezro's and considering that he has had use for three Octane2's in the past, he can replace them with the three Tezro's. :D

That's a pretty good upgrade, as Tezro's are notably faster than Octane2's.

Re: Tezro V12 2xR16K 800MHz 5GB

uunix, have you managed to pick up your higher specced machine yet? Next weekend chap. I'll be bringing back two, mine and another that will be going to a museum. I'll be putting together the best looking one (skins etc) but ensuring it has a low spec, possibly then I will be able to fix the other ...

Re: WTB skins/plastics

Sure, in fact if you were patient enough you could probably do it with a long vernier and a set of French curves... :P That will take a considerable amount of time to model properly, especially where the interlocking parts ("seams") are. In the future if someone here was to get hold of su...

Re: WTB skins/plastics

Is it not possible to get the skins scanned at an extremely high level of detail with equipment such as this: https://www.ntcadcam.co.uk/resources/blog/article/blog/2016/08/28/3d-scanners-for-reverse-engineering And then have them 3D printed in high fidelity with a powder-type 3D printer? It would b...

Re: What Apple hardware do we have?

I agree with you in that there is often allot of garbage when it comes to so-called audiophile equipment. (As every manufacturer will tell you all the reasons in the world as to why their equipment is the best, but when you listen, you are met with nothing but disappointment.) The selection equipmen...
