Re: doomed - use! HTTPS Everywhere - google explained why

The question posed had a different point. (and it was in fact a compliment.) We all underwent the indoctrination instilled by the education system, however there are some of us who haven't conformed to the status quo (Free thinkers who question things and don't just take them at face value as most p...

Re: Acquired Indigo2 IMPACT, My first (working) SGI+Questions

Really? It can remove the redish tint it has as well? How long would you suggest letting the solution on the plastics before rinsing them? It won't remove it completely, but from personal experience, it certainly reduces it. DEC Alpha machines are notorious for yellowing plastics and I cleaned mine...

Some elbow grease and Meguiar's car polish will certainly improve your machine's cosmetic appearance.

It will definitely be able to remove the white marks and reduce the "yellowing" of the plastic.

I usually use a sponge as an applicator, it works well, but does take time.

Re: Acquired Indigo2 IMPACT, My first (working) SGI+Questions

The one that I’ve used is the Deep Crystal polish as shown in the picture that I posted. It’s not too abrasive and it removes ingrained dirt very well. Just remember to start the cleaning process by applying, as little pressure as possible and take it from there. The nice thing about this product is...

Good stuff! But does it run Firefox?!  No better than your O2 does, I'm afraid. :( Buying stuff like this requires a certain level of insanity, of which I’m certainly guilty l suppose! It would just be interesting to experience the highest performing “single node” IRIX machine that ...

Re: doomed - use! HTTPS Everywhere - google explained why

We are returning to the middle ages, where the barons do whatever they damn well please with no restraints -- except with better tools than Mr Orwell could think up. Governments are bad enough but when uncontrollable players can and do manipulate what you see, what you hear, what you think, what yo...

My upgrade for this machine is on it's way from the US. According to FedEx, the package weighs 23 lbs (10.43Kgs) some of that mass is obviously the packaging but it appears that it's quite a bit heavier than a standard Quad 700/800MHz Tezro node board. (anyone who knows the actual difference in mass...

Re: Acquired Indigo2 IMPACT, My first (working) SGI+Questions

That is what I was hoping on doing, awesome! It seems that T-cut is not a thing in the states but if I cannot find a comparative here I can always import a small bottle. I have used Meguiar's car polish to remove marks from the plastics of on many of my machines with great success, and it's an Amer...

Well, I hate to break it to you, but this world is a pretty sad place, and we only have ourselves to blame for this due to our own carelessness and irresponsibility. My problem is not what security measures are put into place, but the fact that they have to be put into place in the first place. (can...

Re: doomed - use! HTTPS Everywhere - google explained why

I can't think of any reasonable argument for why I would want to trust by default, a set of Root Certificate Authorities, some of whom, like Comodo are clearly ethically dubious, who in turn trust other intermediary CAs and so on ad infinitum, and who are essentially in business to tell me to trust...

But since you mentioned Facebook: Facebook is a source of garbage, misinformation, cat pictures and your old uncle's stupid jokes. They can deliver it over TLS but it's still a turd. As long as you don't mistake it for a trustworthy news source you'll be fine :) That's an awesome way of putting it!...
