Re: DOSBox performance

For Sierra adventure games.. you are still better off with scummvm than dosbox. One thing the openGL build of dosbox provides is the ability to enlarge the screen (x2, x3, etc..) but at a small performance hit. But it makes games like Global Conquest, Darklands, etc.. better to play when on 1920x120...

Re: SoftWindows 95: which Apps are working???

Metal Marines works too
Its a win31 game, light war strategy game.
Ill try seeing if this runs on an old SUN Sparcstation 5 with WABI.. it seems light enough.

Re: Modern monitor on SGI is possible?

I only use SUN 13w3 to VGA converters. Never had any issues with the many relatively modern 27", 30", and 32" LCD and LED monitors I have tried with any SGI.. old and newer (less old ;). Granted, resolution is no more than 1920x1200 (in some LCD cases 1920x1080) but that does not both...

Re: Darktable

2.0 and newer releases need gkt3, but earlier did not. However, all releases prior fail very quickly to build due to: Glib version check failed. Version 2.28.8 was found, at least version 2.30 is required I tested all darktable versions way back till 1.4. Our Nekoware glib version is still at 2.28.8...

Re: getting back into the "octane swing"

How is the Adderlink? Would you be able to render graphics well over that or would it feel more like a remote desktop session?

Re: your latest purchase

Ultra 2s are one of my favorite SUN worksations. dual 300mhz should be able to run Solaris 10 btw if you have enough memory.. maybe ditch the gnome/JDS desktop for WindowMaker from OpenCSW packages to be more performant. Plus, GemRB has been compiled on Solaris 10 and I have had it running well on a...

Just standing on the shoulders of giants. As you well know, many others here build and maintain the foundation of everything nekoware that allows little apps like xu4 to be ported to IRIX ;)

xu4 (Ultima IV) for IRIX (mips4 + gcc3)

XU4: "xu4 is an open source project focused on the playability of Ultima IV on modern systems. Their engine uses the original data files from the game. The engine's primary goal is to recreate the original Ultima IV with 100% accuracy while also providing many optional bonus features to improve...

Re: Compiling Zephyr - At my wits end

Possibly (regarding -lcom_err ) :) Another debugging tip: There should be more output before the ld32: WARNING 84 error.. typically 'gcc or cc' commands and such. You could copy/paste that entire long gcc/cc line before the error and re-run manually (assuming you are in the correct directory in the ...

Re: Compiling Zephyr - At my wits end

From my experience.. some library has _et_list as a symbol. I often simply run something like in /usr/lib32/ for i in *.so do echo $i nm -o $i >> /tmp/list done I ran that in /usr/lib32 [47] |000102640530|000000000004|OBJT |GLOB |DEFAULT |MIPS_DATA|_et_list shows up under libcom_err.so So during lin...

Re: XVR-100 DVI console

Just FYI
I just setup an XVR-100 with an Ultra5 using DVI at 1920x1200x60 resolution (24bit). Works fine over here.
I am using a 16:10 monitor from DoubleSight.

Wrong forum to ask 'why' on collecting RISC platforms ;)

I personally collect (and use) all sorts of UNIX platforms and their relevant hardware. Its what I like to do and nekochan provides a community around that.

Re: DOSBox performance

Even though SDL works already, I noticed (and ignored all this time) the following startup error/warning: SDL:OPENGL:No support for texturesize of 1024, falling back to surface You can only scale the resolution if using 'overlay' or 'opengl'.. not surface. After I got tired of playing in tiny window...
