Re: Free Indigo2 Impact in Toronto

Alas I already have an Indigo2 IMPACT R10K. Can't take in another one. But I'm confident Dodoid will give it a good home.

Re: How do you explain....

I have occasionally heard that as well. I just explain that it's fun and the computers are more interesting than modern ones. They are more involved and that makes them fun. Lets face it. Modern computers are bland and not very exciting. But the older ones and SGI's in particular have interesting an...

I can confirm it came on the Complimentary Applications disc from 2003 and that it worked with IRIX 6.5.30.

Re: Hardware is Cheap, Programmers are Expensive

Check out MenuetOS as an example of this. Written by one guy as a hobby project, contains stuff like games, a web browser, transparency support for window themes, and drivers for common hardware. Supports up to 64gb of ram, lots of cores, x64, audio, etc. The entire OS, including all of this, is 1....

Re: The Problem with Apple

who stores more than a few dozen gigabytes of data locally anymore? I can't remember the last time I filled up my laptop's SSD. This guy. My files are mine and I expect them to be available at all times. I have a NAS with a 1TB and 320GB HDD in it for sharing files between computers and it has lots...

Re: Indigo2 IP22 mainboard and R4400 250MHZ CPU

is R4.4K @ 250Mhz faster than R10K @ 195Mhz? No, the R10K much faster. At the same clock rate, the R10K is roughly twice as fast at integer operations, and up to 5x at floating point. The details are buried somewhere on Ian Mapleson's site. Precisely. I did research this before spending the time an...

Indigo2 IP22 mainboard and R4400 250MHZ CPU

I am selling an Indigo2 IP22 mainboard and associated R4400 250MHZ CPU for $50 USD + shipping from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Will ship inside Canada, or international to USA/Europe. The mainboard has the V11 PROM. Does not come with any RAM, or audio card (cuz muh Indigo2 needs it). The board does w...

That's kinda what I plan on doing myself. Except that I'll probably amass a bunch of them and then sell them as a lot for an acceptable price. Hopefully whoever buys them is able to fix them and put them back on the market.

Re: WTB-Indigo2 Stuff

It's not terrible to ship from Canada to the US. Pack the items well, you(Krokodil)'ll need to fill out the Canadian version of the postal service customs form, just put in the approx value, basic description of the contents and fill out the forms honestly. At least here in the US, postal workers a...

Re: Best BSD Laptop Guide

Negative. But if you lock Nvidia or intel it works fine. To be fair, Linux requires Bumblebee to get it semi-working at best. Lock Nvidia? As in turn one off in the BIOS? Both Optimus era computers I have, lack the option to only run with Nvidia only. Used to be they had a hardware switch for this ...

Re: WTB-Indigo2 Stuff

Well apparently I need a new R4400 CPU board now. :( I need at least a 150MHz unit. I do have an R4400 250MHZ CPU and IP22 mainboard sitting around that came out of my Indigo2 when I upgraded to R10000. The thing is, I don't know anything about the process of shipping items internationally. Not sur...
