R12K O2

I just finished cobbling together an R12K O2. Most of it came from a R10K O2 that was destroyed in shipping, but I managed to fix some of it. I added memory from a donor O2 (The original memory was physically broken), and an R12K from eBay. It works great! My only problem is that it should have 1GB ...

Re: Imwheel for Irix- ported! download link in thread

This is an old thread, but does anyone have that ported copy of imwheel around? Both of the links in this thread are broken, and I'm not sure it ever made it to nekoware. I don't see it in there anyway.

Thanks!

Re: OpenSSL / OpenSSH for mips3

Which environment variables do I need to adjust? I updated my path, and library search path, but is there anything else?

Re: OpenSSL / OpenSSH for mips3

I finally got around to trying this, but for some reason I can't get it to work:

[IRIS]:~ $ ssh
-bash: /usr/local/bin/ssh: Bad request code

The included openssl binary does run, however!

Re: OpenSSL / OpenSSH for mips3

Thanks so much, I'll try it this weekend!

And I have a super advanced R4600, so hopefully I'm good!

OpenSSL / OpenSSH for mips3

I've been trying to install OpenSSL and OpenSSH on a mips3 machine and have run into some issues with what I've found in Nekoware. If I try to use SSL and SSH from mips3/current, I get this: OpenSSL version mismatch. Built against 9070bf, you have 90807f I tried to use the versions from mips3/beta, ...

Re: Can't get SCSI2SD working on Challenge S

It's just IRIX for now! I decided that since almost anything can run OpenBSD, that this machine should stay pure.

I should really get setup for serving up installs over the network. I'm going to be reinstalling my Octane soon on a SSD, and potentially have a new Indigo2 on the way.

Re: Can't get SCSI2SD working on Challenge S

Well, I got it working in a round-about way...

I installed IRIX on a real HDD in this system, then added the SCSI2SD as a second drive. I cloned the root HDD to the SD, removed the HDD, and it boots fine from the SCSI2SD!

So now I have a working Challenge S with a 4GB SD drive.

Re: Can't get SCSI2SD working on Challenge S

The hardware version is V5.0a, and I'm on firmware 4.6. Thinking it was a SCSI issue, I've since added a different terminator onto the back of my external CD-ROM drive. That hasn't made a difference. But, I've instead decided to try installing IRIX instead. I can boot into fx and (apparently) partit...

Re: Can't get SCSI2SD working on Challenge S

Just a guess, did you update to the latest SCSI2SD firmware? Initially I had quite some problems with the adapter, but after a certain firmware release the behaviour of the SCSI2SD adapter got much more predictable. It might be worth a try. Hi Tom, I did update to the latest firmware. I haven't tin...

Re: Can't get SCSI2SD working on Challenge S

The SCSI connector does have a notch/key, so they should be connected properly.

I did just try it with no HDD or SCSI2SD connected, and it does work just fine that way!

As for the HDD supplying termination power, I'm not sure. I'll have to find the manual for it and see if it does or not.

Thanks!

Can't get SCSI2SD working on Challenge S

I have a Challenge S (Indy) that I'm trying to setup with a SCSI2SD. I'm actually trying to install OpenBSD from an external CDROM, and when I attempt to boot I get this: >> scsi(0)cdrom(6)partition(8)bootecoff scsi(0)cdrom(6)partition(0)/bsd.rd.IP22 Cannot load scsi(0)cdrom(6)partition(8)bootecoff....

Re: Octane Debugging

I agree, and so far am just following the Octane User's Guide recommendations of only using air. My connectors do look very clean. I believe the main board is okay, because as shown above it does seem to pass the diagnostics, which only seem to work if the graphics card is removed. One note I neglec...

Octane Debugging

I recently got a green Octane and am trying to get it running. On power on, the fans seem to spin fine, and the red light comes on. However, a few times it did boot to the login screen. I thought everything was good, so I removed the drive and popped it into my O2 to reset the password, booted fine,...

Re: archive.org -- SGI Software Library

I've been wanting to install the developer tools on my O2 running 6.5. They seem to have 6.5 developer foundation and developer library images, and one called the "MIPSPro all-compiler" image. Is that what I would need, and has anyone tried to install from the archive.org images before? Th...
