Re: A great holiday approaches...

Personally, I always like to do a job or two, then go to the pub. That way the pint is a deserved celebration of a good job well done!

In fact, after spending several hours re-painting all the decking at the new house we moved to a few weeks ago, I'm about to crack open a beer myself now :)

Could you create a scheduled task (with admin rights) to keep re-applying the change every minute perhaps?

Re: New octane does nothing

Honestly I wonder if I've just gotten extremely unlucky and the cable I ordered still isn't a true null-modem cable. This is the 13w3 cable I ordered , shouldn't it be correct? I wonder if both the cables just don't work properly or something and I just got super unlucky. I kind of doubt it, but ma...

On the subject of Windows 10, a leaked MS build suggests they *may* release a Windows 10 Workstation edition. That in itself isn't superbly interesting, but I did like the image that Ars Technica used to illustrate it... https://arstechnica.co.uk/information-technology/2017/06/windows-10-nt-workstat...

Re: What pointless thing are you doing right now?

Felt very productive! My old room was a bit of a mess as more and more things had been added over time. Always nice to have a clean slate, spend a good few hours setting everything up, have it all working properly at the end, and a happy wife who still sees a tidy room :)

Re: What pointless thing are you doing right now?

I've finally set up my man-cave again after moving house last Monday. It's quite a faf when you have 16 things to plug in around your desk, including 4 systems (5 if you count my work's laptop dock), 3 monitors, 2 KVMs, a sound system, a wireless range extender, a gigabit switch, a NAS, etc. etc - a...

Re: your latest purchase

1280x1024 is as high as anyone actually needs outside of medical imaging anyway. I have to disagree. When I started at my current company, I had two 19" screens running at 1280x1024 and quickly stuffed a 24" 1920x1200 one in the middle. Over the next few months I found a couple of 20"...

Re: PayPal Donation Link Added (plugin requires Prosilver theme)

It's also worth nothing that Prosilver is the default theme, so unless you've changed your theme, the Donate button will appear the next time Pete needs some donations. He typically only opens it for a few days at a time until he has sufficient funds to keep Nekochan running for a while.

Re: WTB-Indigo2 Stuff

They can be more expensive, but it varies. Also because SGI made several different IMPACT-ready PSUs. There's a 36A one and a 48A one, plus several different revisions of them. There's a full list of the different ones on Ian's site in his parts section.

eBay, not mine, Indigo2 10000 Extreme

Indigo2 on eBay (not mine). Purple skins (front door looks intact), R10k and Extreme badges. Does seem to power up and plays the Indigo2 jingle, but no hinv listed and I cannot see any hard drives included. Currently at £30 and in Hampshire, UK. Might be worth a punt if anyone lives near there... ht...

Re: Announcement - Fuel ATX PSU adapters available for purchase

Grand, RM is fine for me. As with uunix, no desperate rush for mine as my existing Fuel PSU is still working fine at the moment. And with moving house, I doubt it'll be powered up again until early June anyway.

Re: IRIX 6.5.15m and upgrading

Personally, I'd always recommend cloning the original disk first. Just always gives you something to go back to if you need it, then gives you the freedom to play around with the Fuel - knowing you've got a copy of all the original data in case you do want to find an old license or something. Of cou...

Re: Announcement - Fuel ATX PSU adapters available for purchase

Hi Ian, will these be sent via UPS, or via another service? I'm in the process of moving house (sent my new address to Kubatyszko). Just conscious from past experience that my nearest UPS depot is over 1 hour drive away (if I miss the delivery). If it'll be Royal Mail (or similar), then no problem. ...
